Here's Richard's (that's me) favorite games.
10. Kingdom Hearts II - PS2
Great action RPG with a great story even with it's Disney Storyline. Massive improvement from the first one, although, it was a bit too easy. This game is at the bottom of my list due to it's annoying fanbase. Yes, the fans ruined this game for me, making it bigger than it was.
9. Halo: Combat Evolved - Xbox
Amazing achievement in gaming for it's time, first game that really got me into FPSs. Storyline was pretty great, and the athmosphere was done great. Too bad the second one wasn't improved much.
8. ICO - PS2
Great adventure puzzle game. Sad that it went highly unnoticed, but this showed a great start for Team ICO. Problem with the game is that the devs simply weren't great at making games; Save points worked oddly. They really make a comeback with their next game though.
7. Final Fantasy XII - PS2
A Final Fantasy that takes a break from the random battles and other traditional FF types of gameplay. I was very wary of how this game would turn out, to my happiness, Square did a great job. This may have been one of the greatest storylines out of the Final Fantasy games.
6. Final Fantasy IV(II) - GBA/SNES
Best Final Fantasy to date. Period. Call it nostagia, but this is my favorite ever, the improved portable version of the game was awesome news for me.
5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
As expected from the MGS series, a great game. Online ruled, storyline delivered, but the game was just missing... something. Great cutscenes though, and one of the best endings ever,
4. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - PS3
Currently playing this, and am I amazed. This is by far the greatest RPG ever made, sorry Japan. The level of freedom, interaction, and deepness is amazing and is like nothing I've ever seen before. This game has me dreading over the hours I'm not playng it. It's like how RPGs should be made.
3. Metal Gear Solid - PS
Truly amazing. Showed games could be cinematic and storylines could be deep. It really showed me that games weren't just enjoyed by playing, but could be enjoyed just by watching a storyline, and listening to characters talk. Really giving you an insight of their personality.
2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - PS2
Although Snake pretty much got the shaft in this one, it showed improved gameplay mechanics, an intense (at times bizzare) storyline, and awesomeness. The lack of Snake was completely made up for everywhere else, and there is no denying that.
1. Shadow of the Colossus - PS2
Best game ever? I think so. As of now, I believe SotC is the best game I've ever played. It was the first, and I believe only time I've seen battles played out like this. Taking down enemies some time 20x your size is truly intense. Once again, another of Team ICO's game is underrated. It hurts to see that people have not played this game when they own a PS2.
Honorable mentions:
Super Smash Bros. Melee - GC
Really only fun with friends, alone it's... depressing
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Sega Genesis
Aside from nostalgia, nothing really going for it, still love it though.
