I plan on replacing my 7900gt(which is defective) with an 8600gts soon. I have an AMD 3800+ 2.41 Ghz processor and 2gigs of RAM. Is my Processor good enough to handle this upgrade?

I currently have a Geforce 7900gt and its starting to crap out (texture tears, articfacts, dead pixels) so im in the process of purchasing a new videocard. I dont have much money but i was going to choose between a 7600gt or an 8600gt. My processor is an AMD 3800+ 2.4Ghz (not dual core) and I have 2gigs of RAM. Im not sure which video card would be best with what I have and still allow me to have good performance in games.

My budget is around $100-200. Its not a heat problem. I just recently cleaned my entire computer out and cleaned my video card specifically.

My videocard is messed up. Every time I load a game (WoW or any Steam game) I get massive texture tears and color splotches and freezes. Ive tried lowering my VC settings but that doesnt work. Im pretty sure im in need of a new video card. I currently have a 7900gt what can and should I get thats around the same strength and doesnt cost too much. Thanks

Thanks guys. O and I forgot to mention that my current VC (Geforce 7900gt) is starting to crap out and the warrently on it has expired. So now im faced with the option of rebuying the 7900, and from your responses it looks like thats my best bet. again thanks
