Ok,so after checking the new E3 and looking at recent PC games requirements on sites like game-debate,I've gotta say...going for next gen is going to cost (us,of course) a lot of money...
For starters,the "best" versions-both graphics and probably gameplaywise (for most games)- of new games will be on the new generation consoles,namely PS4,XBox One and Wii U.Sooo,in order to get the best version of the games we are looking forward to,we're gonna have to go for next gen consoles.As an example,we should try to remember what happened with the Pro Evolution Soccer games on the past gen (actually,that is before the past,meaning PS2)...The PES games on PS2 after PES 2009 truly sucked in comparison to their PS3/360 versions.And I mean that they lacked way more than just gameplay.There's a pretty good chance that this will be repeated this time as well.
That said,some games are going to be only for the new consoles...enough said.You can understand the rest of this on your own.
That means that we have to spend quite the big amount for money.That's about 400 Euros* for PS4,about 500 Euros for XBox One and 300 Euros for a Wii U....although this one has plenty of packages and price varies a bit...
Now for PC...You didn't think I'd leave this out,did you? It's a fact that PC gaming can be a great substitute for console gaming.HOWEVER...many of our favourite franchises as well as new games,are not (being) ported to PC (especially fighting ones).A few good examples : Tekken,Ninja Gaiden,Dead Or Alive,Metal Gear,Kingdom Hearts,almost every Anime-related game.
Here is another thought I had after checking the more recent (and future) games requirements on game-debate; Our PCs are in for HUGE upgrades...if you haven't checked the recent games requirements,I suggest you do so.You'll be surprised.Now,as you should understand,PC upgrades or better yet new builds,require.....that's right,money...a lot of money...
Here is my case (as an example).See if you can relate yourselves to it;
[ I have a desktop with the following specs.
CPU : Intel Pentium G860 3.00 Ghz (dual core)
RAM : 4 Gigs
GPU : Nvidia GeForce 630 GT 1GB DDR3
OS : Vista Home Premium 32 bit (goddamit...)
You need very little knowledge to understand that it DOES easily keep up with most recent games,although it has a some trouble with very recent games like Bioshock Infinite and FEAR3 (I'm talking about MAX Settings).You should also be in position to realise that it has absolutely no hope of coping with upcoming games. ]
Finally,if you've been keeping yourselves updated about new games etc,you should know that this next console war is going to be a prety intense one.Great games have been revealed as exclusives and this makes choosing which consoles you get much harder.For those of you who plan to get both;good for you if you can get it,but it's an expensive choice.
We all love video games,which is probably the reason we have joined GS...,right? Riiiight! We all understand that this is an expensive hobby and the choices that come with it,are hard to make.
I don't know about you (which is why we have comments :) ) but I think I'l .....wait till it's about Christmas time for the discounts for a new gen console....as for the PC....Well,I'll need some brains for this...I thinkI'll make a small upgrade soon and save for a better build in the future (that's AFTER Xmas).
Waiting to hear your opinions on all of this,
your friend,Nick!
* I said "Euros" because I live in the EU.Not sure about the price in dollars and was a bit lazy to convert.Sorry!
