Chapter 5

About time, right? Sorry, I haven't gotten around to anything recently, I've been feeling quote lazy the past few days. :P Well.... Not much more to say! Nothing much worth mentioning.

Oh, right, Leo beat Spirit Tracks a couple of days ago! I had to help him on the final boss a bit, but his was doing quite well all on his own! He wants to start playing Kingdom Hearts as soon as possible, but I have him occupied with Twilight Princess as of right now! I hope he doesn't get hopelessly lost in the Water Temple like I did. I had to use someone's walk through videos on You Tube, if I remember correctly. I'm really hoping he doesn't ask for my help at that part, I'm clueless. I'll gladly help him with anything else, however, I remember most of the game quite well!

Hm.... Other than Leo's gaming progress, I've got nothing more worth mentioning. I'm only about Day 4 with Joshua in The World Ends With You, I'm enjoying the game quite a lot! With Slyfur's most recent rantings, I'll probably be getting Glory of Heracles next. Otherwise, Michigan weather is quite nice. And um, I believe that's it. :P On with Chapter 5!

Chapter 5

Merlin looked over Jager, then Eric, and finally Victor.

"Victor doesn't have any special powers." Squirrel spoke.

"Yes I do! I can cast Cura!" Victor objected.

"Would you two shut up!" Jager yelled before the two could continue fighting. Squirrel glared at them, and Victor rolled his eyes, but the both of them kept quiet. "Please, Merlin, continue."

"Well, as far as I can tell...." Merlin paused to adjust his glasses. "You two simply weren't meant to exist."

"What!?!" The four burst out. Squirrel jumped to her feet, looking as if she were about to threaten Merlin, but decided against it.

"Ahem... What do you mean?" Eric asked, trying to sound calm, however is wasn't working very well. Not only did his expression give it away, but his voice wasn't all that clear.

"The two of you.... what were your names?"

"I'm Squirrel, that's Jager, Eric, and Victor." Squirrel pointed to her friends as she named them.

"Yes, of course. Jager and Eric. You two are not meant to exist."

"What do you mean by that? If we aren't meant to exist, shouldn't we be dead?!" Jager asked. His expression was purely a mixture of shock and fear, and Merlin understood that.

"It's never happened before, I can tell you that much!" Merlin stood up andstretched his legs before continuing. "Why you are standing here today may very well never be answered. But not being meant to exist is why you were chosen to wield your abilities."

Squirrel put her head to her forehead. "Yeah, this is confusing and all..." She muttered to herself, then looked up. "Why can't we ever be normal?" She seemed to be wanting a real answer, though no one could give her one.

"Okay. So, we understand this much...." Jager began, "Eric and I were never meant to exist, and that's why we have our... powers, or abilities, or whatever they are. But why aren't we meant to exist?"

"Very much like the question of why you are still here today, that may never be answered. I cannot offer you information I do not have in the first place." Even now, Merlin seemed unnaturally calm. "I'm sorry, this is all I have for you."

"All right, so we don't know why they weren't meant to exist, or why they're still here. Lovely! Just freakin' wonderful!" Squirrel was a bit frustrated, but seemed to understand at the same time. Merlin could tell that it was killing her inside, knowing she couldn't do anything to help her friends.

"Perhaps," Merlin spoke up, feeling bad that he couldn't do anything to help these good people. "if you reconnect all the worlds, the answers you seek will become clear." There was a short pause before he continued, "That is just a suggestion, and I cannot guarantee it is true, but there is something I can do you aid you kids."

Squirrel, Jager, Eric, and Victor muttered something between themselves as Merlin stood up and walked over to a bookshelf. He pulled a few books down and placed them on a nearby table, and pressed in a brick on the wall, which seemed to act as a hidden switch. The bookshelf disappeared into the floor, and behind it opened a doorway. He slowly headed down the stairs, and the four friends stared at each other for a moment before reluctantly following.

At the bottom of the spiral stairs was a room brightly lit, though no one could tell where the light was comingfrom. There were no windows, lights, or even torches to indicate the source of light, yet the entire room was equally filled brightly. No one in the room cast any shadows, which added to the fact they couldn't find the source of the light in the room.

Merlin stood in the center of the room, while the four friends stayed huddled together by the staircase. As soon as Merlin stepped into the middle of the room, three fairies appeared from the opposite corner. One dressed in a blue hat and dress, another in red, and the last in green. The three fairies seemed to glow even brighter than the light in the room.

"Would you girls please assist these four young people?" Merlin asked.

"What do you need, Merlin?" The fairy in blue asked.

"Give the four of them hero's clothing. And give them extra weapons, would you?"

"Right away!" The red one flew off, Squirrel assumed she was getting the weapons Merlin requested.

The blue one looked over Eric and Victor, while the green one looked over Squirrel and Jager, separating the group of four into two, yet they were only a few feet away.

"You want hero's clothing? For herthough?" The green fairy seemed disgusted by Squirrel's current appearance.

"Uh, standing right here." Squirrel rolled her eyes. "Sure, I'm not dressed in the fanciest of clothes, but who needs it? T-shirt and jeans are all I need."

The green fairy said nothing more. In a moment, the four began to glow. Soon enough the four of them were glowing so brightly you could only see the shapes of their bodies. When the light died down, the four of them were dressed in just that - hero's clothing.

Each one's clothing equally hard to describe in words, each of them looked down at themselves in amazement of their new clothing.

Squirrel now wore a red shirt not at all like her previous one, and white-ish gray jeans, which were much more than a simple shirt and jeans would've seemed. Jager wore a green shirt with a vest underneath, making it seem more like a tunic than anything else. Victor seemed to be wearing the same clothes, yet slightly modified, which made him look less depressing. Eric wore what looked like clothing someone prepared to go into battle would wear, making it something he wouldn't normally wear.

Before any of them had the chance to say something, the red fairy came back with a small back in which she carried weapons. A single, simple-looking dagger, and three bows with arrows to match.

"Give the girl the dagger." The green fairy spoke.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, indeed."

"Very well." The red fairy handed Squirrel the dagger. She then handed Eric, Jager, and Victor their own bow and arrows.

"These will prove useful, I assure you." Merlin nodded. He smiled, "Now, off with you four! You must reconnect the worlds!"

"Can I ask about this dagger, first?" Squirrel stepped forward. "Why would I need this?"

"It is the Titan Dagger, dear." The blue fairy spoke before Merlin had the chance. "Do not under estimate it because it looks quite simple, it will prove very useful. Not to mention it's power."

"It matches you perfectly." The green fairy said to Squirrel and the four friends began climbing the stairs.

"Good luck!!"Merlin and the three fairies called as they left.

As soon as the four of them stepped outside, a woman rushed up to them. "Victor! You've returned!"

"Mother?" Victor asked in shock.

Squirrel, Jager, and Eric walked a few feet away to give them some space. "He seemed shocked to see his own mother. Do you think he's been gone a while?" Jager asked.

"Probably longer than we would think." Eric spoke. "Do you think he'll stay here, or come help us?"

"My guess? I'd say he'll probably stay here. I mean, he-" Squirrel began, only to have Eric interrupt her but rushing back into Merlin's house. "What... the-" Squirrel stopped herself.

A moment later, Eric came back out of Merlin's house and joined them once more, holding the Heartless Shadow in his hands.

"I almost forgot Chester!" He smiled as he handed the Heartless to Squirrel.

"You named it Chester?" Jager asked.

"Yeah. Me and Squirrel came up with it on the Gummi Ship, on the way here." Eris nodded.

Squirrel held the Shadow, petting it's head. "Since when am I in charge of holding it?" No one answered, and the three glanced over and Victor and his mother.

"Let's just leave, he's probably going to stay here anyway." Squirrel began walking back to the Gummi Ship. Eric and Jager glanced at each other, then at Victor. They waited a moment or two, then followed Squirrel.

The three were just about to board the Gummi Ship when Victor came running, stopping them in their tracks.

"What, couldn't wait up for me?" He asked.

"We thought you were going to stay here." Squirrel answered bluntly.

"You didn't think I would abandon you guys, now did you? Do you really think I would let you do this alone?" Victor half smiled.

"Yeah, kinda." Eric answered innocently.

"You're still welcome to join us.... But you can stay here, if you want." Jager spoke.

"No way! You guys helped me, so I'm gonna help you." Victor nodded.

"Then let's go already!" Squirrel boarded the Gummi Ship, followed by Jager and Eric, with Victor being the last to come.

"All right, let's take a look at this map..." Squirrel gave Chester to Eric, and unfolded the map Merlin had given them.

"Where to first?" Jager asked, taking the pilot's seat as he had done last time. Squirrel followed and took her seat as well, still looking at the map.

"Well, we're in Twilight Town now, and we have five worlds to get to...." She spoke quietly. "Let's see. The closest world is... Port Royal!"

"Port Royal? As in the place with pirates, and cursed gold?" Jager asked.

"Yep." Squirrel answered simply.

"This is either going to be fun, or it'll end up really bad...." Eric mumbled.

"Do it matter?" Victor half-smiled as Jager and Squirrel took flight and began heading towards Port Royal.

I don't really want to do a bio update, sorry guys. :P What did you think of the chapter? It was kind of hard to think up, especially describing their new clothes! I don't think I did very well there, because I've read it back to myself a dozen times, and it doesn't capture what I've pictured in my head very well....

So, let me know what you think! And I want to thank everyone for your comments, I look forward to reading every one of them!! :D Well, hope you enjoyed! ;)
