If the pc leading the market is true then it will take a bloody long time because if console versions of games continue sell 2x or more than their pc counterparts then these companies aren't going to give a damn what a few thousand people do per year (though with this generation being abnormally long, that will happen just a tad faster). The most we can do is hope for good ports and endure the incoming wave of predatory shallow-as-hell free to play games coming from your friendly neighbourhood publisher who isn't Korean and experienced their first raging hard-on when they saw League of Legend's numbers until quality games and quality pc versions get the sales they deserve.
This battle in particular looks to be a historical battle, which means all the units and whatnot have been handpicked by the developers, usually balanced for you to only play on one side, usually in a series of battles :)
In the main campaign however, you choose what faction you represent, you then build up your army and move them about to capture and defend territory as you so choose.

I see, my brothers into those type of games, i bought him a medieval limited edition thing ages ago, it looked good, but when you need to read a book just to learn what stuff does, i dont think i'd enjoy it. probably very rewarding if you do well though. I am just getting into XCOM enemy unknown and loving that at the mo. The Total War games have tutorials.
This game still runs like turd on my overclocked phenom 2 955 and 5850 on low and I'm talking 15-22 FPS on large battles. That's not good to say the least; let's hope that yesterday's patch wasn't the big optimisation push Smedley was talking about.
