I think the power consumption might make a lot of people choose these cards. It's certainly caused me to raise an eyebrow. The 8800 GT is quite a power hog, which is fine if you have a beefy PSU. Many people don't. And a powerful PSU is at least another $100 tacked onto the price of the card.
