@xeoneex66 @WereCatf @schitzonix Otherwise no one would play them, right? Not trying to insult your reasoning, just agreeing that it's just another way to trick you into making the purchase.
It's a shame because there are actually good F2P games out there that can be competitive even if you don't spend a crap ton of money on them. But I think another big psychological issue with many F2P games is that competition. Nobody wants to lose. And if a few bucks stands between winning and losing, most people would rather spend the money to get the positive response from victory than not spend the money and end up with a negative response. It's almost as if you're paying for your happiness.
Your brain knows you'll feel fulfilled if you spend the money. Your brain also knows that you'll be fulfilled by saving your money for more important things. But short term accomplishments are more satisfying than long term ones (which is why playing video games can be so much more engaging than studying, even in a subject you enjoy).
Really the only point I'm trying to illustrate is that it would take a lot more than two episodes to completely cover all the different levels on which F2P models exploit you into making purchases. Nonetheless, great episode and I'm looking forward to the next part.
I want actual in-engine footage to look this way by the end of this gen. The pre-rendered trailers are getting old. For as long as we've known about this game, they should be more open to showing us actual gameplay and demonstrating the range of abilities we'll have. It's still largely unknown just how vast his hacking skills will be outside of some pre-rendered scene.
