Ok well, this years Winter X-Games were one of the best, by far
I'm happy that Shaun White did not have a 5-peat in Slopestyle...and even happier that he did not grab the gold in the pipe.
If you ask me, the most intense event was the Men's Skiing Superpipe Competition. Once again it came down to Simon Dumont and Tanner Hall competing for the gold. UNfortunately, Tanner Hall get the win because of his technicallity, but I think Simon should have one. He had a 1260 in his run and a **** more air than Tanner did.
I finally caught one of the slopestlye competitions on TV this year. I'm usually never around to see them because they are in the middle of the day, but this year I sat down for four hours straight and watched ALL the coverage of the games. So back to the point, the slopestlye competition was very fun to watch. The rail technicality portrayed in that event was unimaginable. i forgot who, but some guy did an 810 ONTO A RAIL (now, for all those who don't know anything about what that means, it means that he did 2 full rotations and then turned 90 degrees to hit the rail).
As for the Skier X competitions, those were kinda stupid. 10 PEOPLE CRASHED. Holy crap that is a lot. 5 of them had to be assisted (or put on a stretcher) down the hill. 1 person had to have surgery on his left shoulder. But the most notable thing to me was Lindsey Jacobellis. Once again she managed to crash and burn on the last jump and come in second. It was the Olympics all over again.
Andreas Wiig did a very good job at the X-Games this year. He took Gold in Men's Snowboarding Slopestyle and at the Men's Best Trick competition (which is a new event to the X-Games this year). But there are a lot of up and comers so i don't think his success will carry on into next year. But if it does then good for him.
Now, you probably think that I shuold become a news reporter, considering the amount of detail I put into this, but lemme assure you, it ain't gonna happen. I just like snow sports....A LOT
