Right now on Steam look at Half Life 2 through Episode 2. They are having a great deal on all games Half Life. Episode 1 and 2 could take you about 10-12 hours. And I'm not sure how long Half Life 2 took, but good nonetheless. Plus, they can come with MP games to also hold your attention.

More depth than the CoD games and for the price you're getting, no question. RtH30 was a superb game, EiB wasn't bad and HH was fantastic. However, that is just my opinion. Like I said, with the price, there is no point passing it up if you've thought about buying it/them.

Of the first games I ever played, Monkey Island was no question one of the best series.

All that means is, people should not be annoyed with Gearbox's "Americanism". I guarantee you developers in other countries would do the same for a game promoting the British Army, Aussie Army etc under the same context. Which in this case is World War II.

However, on a more serious note, isn't that "oozing" making a game like BiA much more entertaining than CoD, where there really is no "story", no insight and no background besides the journal entries at the start of every level. I just think it is too hypocritical to call it too "America" when a developer would do the same for their country under the same pretenses.

[QUOTE="Baranga"]

[QUOTE="RustDove"] As for the "Americanism" comment, isn't that how it should be? It's only following American soldiers through an extremely difficult time. I don't see a problem in that. Electro057

There's a difference between following Americans and being an embarassing tear-jerker.

I facepalmed my way through Hell's Highway, cursing almost every plot related non-skippable cutscene. I can't define the "Americanism", but I sure as hell know it's oozing from every pore of that game. The kitschy and overly dramatic music, the cliched and pretentious "camerawork" (which screams "the director thinks he's Hollywood-calibre"), that horible intro with the boy and his plane, the dialogue lifted straight from The Complete Idiot's Guide to How to make a war movie - everything just adds and creates this vicious atmosphere, the most monstrously conceived and dangerous American mindwashing plot European gamers ever had to face.

By the way, was that stolen truck of HH copies ever recovered?

This^^ So no, never playing another one after I went through this >.> Believe it or not, countries other than America did contribute great amounts to the Second World War.

You don't say? I thought America stormed every beach and we were also known as the Desert Rats??

I did enjoy oblivion but the forests seemed a little too empty besides the trees and flowers. Almost a Far Cry 2 feel, where you would just stumble on the occasional deer or wolf. I'd like to see more A.I. friendly creatures in game, or just something more. It seemed too dead. As for some of the main story it was great. I thought Kavatch was a great level for the most part, sometimes it became far too repetitive however. No doubt agree on the NPCs and have more interaction in town and outside of the cities. I liked a mod made where it added more travelers and merchants on the roads throughout Cyrodil. Something of that extent would be a nice addition. I'd just like V to surprise me, I haven't played the game in some time but I'm eager to see what the future holds for V.

Without a doubt, World War II has been made into something great and horrible through games. But it seems there is really nothing better than killing in Europe, Africa or the Pacific. I mean I loved the story in Brothers in Arms, that for me really sets it apart from CoD 1, UO, and 2. As for the "Americanism" comment, isn't that how it should be? It's only following American soldiers through an extremely difficult time. I don't see a problem in that. But yes, I would play/buy/rent another BiA game. I believe it would be worth it. As for the health issue, they could use the technique that MoH used with the Medic? Who knows.
