It's true. I've finally decided to start over. I decided Levels are completely pointless things once you get to all the levels you need to do stuff. My new username is EkriLik, so add me on there if you want to keep in contact with me. If not, I won't be offended.

Leaving to California tomorrow morning
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
I'll be leaving for California at 7:25 AM (central time) tomorrow. I'll try and log into GameSpot tomorrow night to check to see if I have any messages or anything, but after that I won't be coming on GameSpot for the entirety of my trip.
I won't be able to finish the banner requets that I recieved, and I'd like to apoligize to the people who had requests. I'll try and finish them as soon as I get back!
Leaving GS this week
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
I will be leaving GameSpot this upcoming week. I was going to leave whenever I reviewed a few games, but I've decided not to do that. I really need to focus on more important things now. Before I leave I have to finish a few requests for banners, hopefully I'll get those done within the next few days so I can leave without having to sign back in to send them.
I'm hoping to leave by this Wednesday or Thursday.
Harrison Ford's still got it
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
Last night I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with my friend at midnight. After waiting in the theater for over an hour for it to begin, everyone was antsy for it to begin. We did get to see some cool movie trailers for Hellboy 2 (which I have to admit looks amazing) and The Dark Knight. Finally, at about 12:15 AM, it began and a lot of people cheered, followed be others shushing them. Now I don't want to spoil anything about the film, but there are going to be many instances where people say "WTF?", I'm a pretty big fan of the first Indiana Jones film, and it's safe to say that the first is still the best. As you progress onward in the film, you can definetely see that Harrison Ford is still perfectly fine playing Indiana Jones after it began 27 years ago. Shia LeBouf was an interesting to see in the film, but he did a great job in it. Rumor has it that LeBouf will be in future Indiana Jones films as the new adventurer, but I guess only time will tell if that happens or not.
My Score: 7.5/10
GTA makes me an angry person
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
(This will be my last blog about GTA, since there is a cesspool of blogs about it already.)
I've realized since I began playing Grand Theft Auto IV that my thoughts while playing it have gotten more aggressive, while this hasn't progressed into my actions instead of thoughts, it's still a bit strange. I curse more in my head while playing other games, and whenever something goes wrong in games like NBA Live 08 I'm tempted to yell the F word. I'm never really like this regularly, but GTAIV can be frustrating at times that it makes me want to break my controller. There are tons of websites and magazines that have given it a 10, but to be honest I don't think I could give it a 10; though I may love it.
My thoughts while doing stuff like this, "DIE YOU STUPID COPS! DIEEEEE!"
If I were to review GTAIV (on a site other than GameSpot) I'd probably give it a 9.8. That's still a great score, but if I were to give it any score below a 10 on here the review would probably get a lot of thumbs down. Why? Because when a game is hyped up a ton, and then it releases and it's as amazing as it was hyped up to be, there's going to be a few people that don't want to give it a perfect score like the rest. I think GTAIV might be one of the best games I've played in years, but the people that read my review are going to automatically give it a thumbs down despite that I gave it a great score. So I'm just a little pissed off at that.
They could be twins.
As a side note, the only games I've ever considered perfect 10's are Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Starcraft, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Reviewing a few games, then leaving again
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
I'd just like to let everyone know that after I review a few more games, I will be leaving GameSpot again. I came back here just because I've gotten extremely bored lately. But, I need to take time away from distractions and focus on the stuff I need to be doing. So after I review Lost: Via Domus and Army of Two I'll be leaving.
I can't say I know when I'll have the reviews up, but it will be by next week.
How I play GTA
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
Driving Like an Idiot:
My favorite thing to do since III has been stealing cars and then driving around the city like a maniac. There has always been something thrilling to me about this. Avoiding (or not avoiding) pedestrians and other vehicles, jumping off of highways only to smash into other cars....oh, it's thrilling.
Explosions:
Ever since I got into Goldeneye, I've loved making stuff explode in video-games. If you recall those good ol' days, planting mines around the map and then waiting for someone unfortunate to walk by and causing them to die in a firey explosion, then you'll know what I mean. In GTA, one of my other favorite things to do (while more than likely having the invincible cheat on and unlimited ammo) was make a lot of things explode. I used to drive as many cars as possible to one area, then go up on a ledge and shoot a rocket at them. The cops would come in a hurry, and then it's waste them all with more rockets. Then I'd fly away in my jetpack.
Cheating:
One of my all time favorite things about GTA were the cheat codes. I'd turn on as many as possible at time to make the game extremely fun, and the combinations of some were just so ammusing you couldn't resist. Back in Vice City, I'd turn on the cheat that let you drive cars on water. I'd then do a lot of stuff to get police to chase me, then I'd drive into the water and watch with glee as the police drive into the water and drown...followed by an explosion. Another of my favorite things in Vice City was to stand on top of a box (Not sure what it was, it was years ago I did this) and have invincibilty on. I'd get my Wanted level as high as possible, then let them swarm me. I'd get shot thousands of times, but I'd still be perfectly fine. Then I'd steal a tank and run over people.
2 months later...
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
So I knew I was going to write a new blog eventually, but I wasn't sure exactly when it'd be. These 2 months have gone by rather quickly, and I have to admit that I haven't really missed GameSpot at all. I'm still play games a whole lot since I've got nothing better to do, but staying here just seems like a boring idea.
I might post a blog again in a few months, but until then I figured I'd just log in to check on my messages and see how everyone else is doing.
What I want in Guitar Hero IV
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
Bosses
Jack White (The White Stripes)
Encore Song with White: Icky Thump
Why: Jack White would be perfect for the game since he's such an excellent guitarist. Until you listen closely to The White Stripes' songs you might not appreciate him fully. Icky Thump would be a good encore song since it's full of great riffs.
Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
Encore Song with Page: Rock and Roll
Why: Do I have to say?
Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother)
Encore Song with Stockdale: Joker and the Theif
Why: All of Wolfmother's songs have great riffs, and it's all thanks to lead singer and guitarist Stockdale. Joker and the Theif is probably my favorite Wolfmother song, and it's probably even better for Guitar Hero than Woman was.
Tracks
Alter Bridge - Ties That Bind
Why: Heavy, fast-coming and hard hitting riffs would make it a good song for near the end of the game.
Anberlin - Godspeed
Why: Fast guitar riffs at the beginning and some great riffs throughout the rest of the song. Most Guitar Hero fans would probably have a lot of fun playing it.
The Beatles - Revolution
Why: We need a Beatles song already! Revolution is a great title to have in the game with the opening riffs.
Blindside - Fell in Love with the Game
Why: There are plenty of great riffs in the song, and from beginning to end it'd be perfect for Guitar Hero.
The Doors - Peace Frog
Why: Guitar Hero isn't great without it's songs from the "Golden Days of Rock", and The Doors have some great songs. Seeing this song on the track listing will make thousands of Guitar Hero fans happy.
Franz Ferdinand - The Fallen
Why: Great riffs, it's actually kind of a lesser known Franz Ferdinand song in a way. If you've ever watched the videos of the guys that smash game consoles (the smashmy guys) then you'll probably know the song. Some say I'm a troubled boy/Just cause I like to destroy/Well what's wrong with a little destruction?
Green Day - St. Jimmy
Why: I'm still waiting for Green Day in Guitar Hero, and I think St. Jimmy will compliment the track listing well.
Jonezetta: Popularity
Why: Some great riifs that will please any Guitar Hero fan. Though they're a lesser known band to most audiences, they're pretty well known by concert-going people.
Muse - City of Delusion
Why: The song opens with some soft guitar riffs, then transitions into a little quicker and edgie riffs. It'd be a great song for a Guitar Hero game.
Rammstein: Du Hast
Why: Fast, hard-hitting and edgy riffs. I can see people trying to beat this on Expert and almost breaking their hands.
Skillet - Forsaken
Why: Edgy, hard-hitting riffs. Many people will enjoy playing this.
We Are Scientists - It's A Hit
Why: It's really more of a fun song than a challenging one, it'd probably be one of the "Opening Act" songs.
Weezer - Hash Pipe
Why: My Name is Jonas was a great song in Guitar Hero III, but Hash Pipe is a much better song to have in my opinion. The only problem with it is the obvious drug refferences.
Downloadble Track Packs:
The White Stripes Pack - Includes Seven Nation Army, The Hardest Button to Button, Conquest, Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As Your Told)
Why: Basically these are all the other tracks I considered instead of Icky Thump
If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to let me know.
(P.S.: I've moved my leaving date up to January 14th. That is also the day that I'm leaving MySpace and Facebook. I've already left deviantART. The only thing I will stay on is Wordpress, which only one of you has commented on so far.)
Songs I can't stop listening to
by Ryo_Kensen on Comments
Massive Attack: Teardrop
You may have heard this song as the opening theme from the TV show House or from a trailer for Assassin's Creed. I love everything about this song, from start to finish it's beautiful. The vocals are done beautifully and the music is catchy and pleasent.
Sigur Rós: Í Gaer
This is probably my new favorite Sigur Ros song. Virtually all of Sigur Ros' songs are masterpieces of music and vocals, and listening to them makes you feel at peace about everything. Most of Sigur Ros' music makes me tear up.
The Strokes: I Can't Win
I just recently got into The Strokes (meaning about 2 months ago) and I've really been liking what I've been hearing. I Can't Win is a nice and catchy song with some pretty good lyrics as well. Normally I don't like cursing in music, but The Strokes is an exception.
Eisley: Invasion
I saw them in concert a few months ago, before I didn't have to much of an interest in them since I never really paid too much attention to their music when it was playing. I really enjoyed them in concert, and a few days later I bought their "Combinations" CD. The vocals are great and the music is definetely good as well. Several of the band members are siblings, the two vocalists (Sherri and Stacy) are sisters, and their sister (Chauntelle) is the lead guitarist. Their brother Weston plays the drums, and lastly their cousin Garron plays the bass guitar. They're a great band, and normally I don't like girl bands, but I love Eisley. Also, here's a fun fact: They were named after the Mos Eisley space port from Star Wars.
The Helio Sequence: Keep Your Eyes Ahead
I just found out about this band a few days ago and this is so far the only song I've heard by them, but I've listened to it several times and I really enjoy it.
Muse: Map of the Problematique
I love Muse. They're probably one of the best bands I've heard in years, and their music can either be beautiful or eerie, depending on how the vocals are. Anyone that likes rock music would probably like Muse. I highly recommend them.
Spanish for 100: Go Away, Come Home
They're pretty indie, their MySpace hasn't even reached 20,000 views yet. I found out about them through Spin.com (the website of Spin Magazine) and I've been really loving them ever since. You can download some songs on their website and MySpace if you're interested in checking them out.
The Whigs: Ok, Allright
They remind me a ton of The Strokes, the only thing that's keeping them away from sounding exactly like them is the vocalist. The music is pretty much a lot of the same sounding stuff. If you like The Strokes you might show an interest in The Whigs.
The White Stripes: We Are Going To Be Friends
Yes. This is the song that Napoleon Dynamite opened with. Jack White really knows how to rock, and Meg White is pretty darn cute. These guys have helped me out a lot through some tough times, and I owe them a lot.
Weezer: My Name Is Jonas
So I don't just like Weezer because lead singer Rivers Cuomo is married to a Japanese woman. Now that that's out of the way, I like Weezer's sound a lot. It's almost raw with a touch of edginess, with a tad bit of punk and emo inspiration. Yeah that is a little confusing, I know.
Arcade Fire: Wake Up
One of my dreams is to see them live, I've heard a lot about their live shows and I guess it's one of those things that unless you're there in person you won't get the full experience. Wake Up is one of those songs I like to listen to whenever I feel pretty damn good, it's pretty uplifting. Look up the live video on YouTube, them playing in front of that massive crowd is pretty sweet.
