TGS, the new E3?

So everyones heard the news about E3 undergoing radical changes. But does this mean gamers will be taking trips to Toky to see TGS, the Toky Game Show? TGS has always been a public event, while E3 never was. I wonder if The Big 3 would even consider showcaseing big booths and events there.

E3 was part of gaming heritage. Every year, it was like a huge party in L.A.. Now it's going to be just a bunch of editors and businessman getting coverage on the newest new, which E3 was originally designed to be. But it really got you in the spirit! Boothbabes! Big loud announcements! Crowds roaring! Freaky people, freaky products... And the crowd favorite KEN KUTARAGI. That crazy old bastard. So this is the end, and we salute you for the good years E3.

AMD + ATI = Intel + Nvidia?

AMD recently scooped up ATI for a whopping 5.4 Billion in cash and shares. Does this mean Intel will be merging with Nvidia? Surely it's plausible, right? Talk about Allies vs. Axis war from then on. If that did happen, it's only natural AMD + ATI = Allies </bias>

LOTR Bug

It appears I've been bitten by the LOTR bug. I can't get enough of the books, or the movies. I recently bought LOTR:BFMEII and can't get enough of playing that either. I even fixed up my friends tarnished old "One Ring" by spray-painting it, and then painting the elvish letters in red with a needle! Not to mention I can't stop humming the theme wherever I go. Now I hear there is a new MMO called LOTR: White Council taking place in Middle-Earth. I'm freakin' out people! Is LOTR on the rise again, or am I the only one who has been bitten?

Doom Meets Turok Meets Quake Meets (...)

People. Do we really care that much about Prey? I admit that it's neat to see an early 90's game ressurected, but it's running on stone age ideas! I geuss you can say I'm no longer a fan of the conventional shooter, after all, I wasn't exactly impressed with the new Quake or Doom games. So here comes another rehash of running through samey environments, blasting random enemies, and putting no thought process into playing. Maybe people still like that? Maybe I should play the game before I open my mouth, but it looks exactly like Doom and Quake and Serious Sam and every other conventional FPS out there. Why? WHY am I the only one not impressed? Enlighten me.

RTS' Big Break (On Consoles)

LOTR: BFME II is arriving in a short couple of weeks on the 360, F.Y.I for some. I for one am excited to see the RTS genre being ushered in on consoles, which EA is spearheading. In 2000 Starcraft was ported from the PC to N64 with astonishing results. The only drawback was somewhat lesser visuals, but the core game was still fully intact. It's too bad the market wasn't ready for a bold move like that. In return sales were poor, and halted the progress of RTS' on consoles. Now that consoles and PCs are becoming more and more convergent, will the market be ready for a console RTS?

Berlin Wall Comes Down!

Whoops, I mean Red Star has been bought. Same difference you know? I was one of the many who thought this game would never be picked by a publisher after Acclaim went under. Two years it was lost in limbo! As the graphics aged so did the chances of it being published. This is as big of deal as the Berlin Wall. Yet, I feel like I'm the only one making a bid deal about this.

"Learn how to love, and forget how to hate"

When I posted a rather humorous video of me doing a kick, I got a lot of negative feedback based on my appearance. I had no idea GameSpot was filled with such judgemental jerks. The way I like to dress has nothing to do with my love of video games. I'm just someone who happens to like dressing this way, and apparently I seem to lose a lot of my credibility this way. Some people need to grow up and learn how to love, and forget how to hate.

Guitar Hero II--- Expectations

* More variety of Metal, which should include Power Metal, and Death Metal. Old school Metal is nice, but who wouldn't want to play Dragnforce, or Lamb of God?

* Mosh Pits. Plain and simple. And an annoying emo kid in there thats trying to dragon kick people.

* There should be a scene (emo) character! I know, I know, some people like to slam on the scene kids, but we need a skinny guy with a wicked hairstyle!

* There should be two-handed rapid tap-ons and pull-offs. Is there any other way to play Van Halen- Eruption?

* I seriously think there needs to be a rap song in there... What???

* CROWD SURFING!

TRPGs on the rise! (Thanks due to Nippon Ichi)

I know not many people are into Tactical RPGs (half of you probably don't know what they are), but lately they have been getting more publicity. I remember back in my day (Which was the PSX) a strange new RPG started to surface called Tactical Role Playing Game, which was made known mostly due to Final Fantasy Tactics. However, my first experience with one of these -and quite memorable- was Front Mission 3 which most of you lazy Role Players probably haven't heard of. And it's very nice to see publishers (Nippon Ichi, and Atlus in particular) bringing these complicated turn based games stateside more frequently now.  I urge those who have not heard of, or played a TRPG to learn more about them to see if they are right for you. For you serious Role Players check out the company Nippon Ichi which is the fastest growing TRPG publisher and developer around right now. Maybe you've heard of Disgaea?

Far Crap: Devolution

I bought Far Cry: Insticts Predator for the Xbox 360 half expecting it to be better than what Far Cry: Insticts was made out to be. "I mean hell, it's running on the hardware god uses to cook his toast!" To my amazement, the controls along with A.I. seems to be even worse! There is however a hard mode which I decided to play on. Instead of them getting smarter, they basically have bigger bullets, and you have Hemophilia. Good work Ubisoft! That $60 was money well spent... </sarcasm>
