Mass Effect Impressions

I played about an hour of Torchlight. Great fun. I'm now installing all my other Steam Games. I think this is the last day of Steam's Sale so I might nab some games that were on Sale but weren't cut down further on the Special Day Sale's like Plants vs. Zombies or World of Goo.

I managed to get Mass Effect running by bypassing the Configuration Utility - long story, no time to explain. It's deep and certainly epic. I'm on Noivera trying to find Saren's secretary. Strange thing is, I've maxed out all the settings but the visuals aren't even that impressive. Ok, they are, but not from what I've seen in Video Reviews. They just seem slightly pixelated and washed out. And I wish I could use my 360 Gamepad.

Regardless, from what I've played so far, Mass Effect is as good as Sci-Fi gaming gets. Fairly simple RPG mechanics are seamlessly ingrained in top-notch prolific, third-person shooting. If you haven't bought it yet, I can't reccomend it enough. From what I've heard, it's a 60 hour adventure and for that, that's brilliant value for money. Especially now it's only worth a few notes.

EDIT: I was wrong. Mass Effect is a 12 hour long adventure.
