The Autumn of the Doomed Wallet

If nothing else I know how to make a post name sound dramatic don't I. Anyways, just like from the preview of the games expected for Q2-Q3, I'm rounding up my list of games I need to get my hands on... and go broke in the process. With two sports games as Madden and NHL already in my pocket, this time of the year becomes a chore for a sports junky.

NBA2k9

I was sold on EA's Live 09 until every recently, until the Momentous II trailer. Then I did a 180 and came back to the 2k series, the one I trusteed all this time. I played the demo, both games look good, but 2k still has the edge. Live just feels too choppy and unrealistc. For sure it remains the leader in arcade style basketball, but to get as close to the real thing, there is nothing but 2k when it comes to it. Player motions are more fluid, perhaps even if the grafics lag they are not too far behind. Its 2ks attention to detail that blows me away year in and year out though. They add small components such as the animated crowd, small details of the gameplay. And 5 vs 5 online mode for all of your enjoyment.

FIFA 09

I haven't bought a soccer game in three years, I rented them all the time. Reason being, EA didn't exactly make great leaps over time. This year I feel like that's changed. The demo feels miles ahead of 08. All of the customizations such as create a place a humangous to a soccerpath.... And did I mention 10v10 online? I think its the winning formula this year. Playing sports games as they were meant to be played.

Dead Space

If you like having the **** scared out of you and you're not excited about Dead Space there is something seriously wrong with you. This game looks absolutely magnificent for the genre. Sure it borrows the story line from Doom 3 almsot to a T from what I can see, well except that its not hellspawns but rather space aliens doing the murdering. But this game looks amazing. I think its the concept of an every day man (in this case space mechanic) having to deal with horror that draws me in. Or maybe its strategic dismemberment, which is a facny way for say you have the freedom to chop off limbs as you please.

Saint's Row II

Saint's Row one was no GTA IV, neither will this be, but in all honesty I think we should stop comparing all free roaming games to GTA, its way past thtat point in time. the difference between Saints Row and other "clones" though, is that it is its own game. It took some details of GTA and turned them for itself. Its more humorous, light, and over all over the top were as GTA took a gritty turn at the corner of realism and grey. :D Terrific voice actining, a promising single player campaign and multiplare. This game has me brimming with anticipation.

Far Cry 2

Take one of the least explored continents on Earth, coupple it with 50km2 of free roaming environment, dynamic weather, and strong AI and I am fairly sure you have one of the best games to ever hit the shelves. From what I've seen so far, Far Cry 2 looks absolutely amazing. Grafics looks to par and beyond, the AI respons as I would expect a rational person to respond, and the immersion factor is huge. Never going from first person to any other view, always in the shoes of your hero... Far Cry 2, here I come...

Fallout 3

I don't even need to write anything here. Everyone who knows gaming is expecting Fallout 3, or as people called it Oblivion with guns, which it's not. Definitely I see similarity, right down to the same voice actors, but this game should be so much greater that Elder Scrolls IV. It has the potential of an already built fan base, an amazing premis,e truly captivating environments, a rail gun, and a cannon that can shoot teddy bears...

Guitar Hero World Tour

With the popularity of Rock Band on the climb, it was only a matter of time before Guitar Hero came out with their own remedy for the virtual band junkies everywhere. And although I feel like this may slowly be killing the real Rock and Roll, for me, a tone def persons whom never had a prospect to even touch a guitar or drums, this is all I need.

Gears of War 2

The first one was Epic in terms of scale, battles, and presentation, it deliver. The second one looks even better. Chain saw battles, added curb stomps, new enemies, same deep story line (hopefully longer), it all seems to make GeOW2 a contender for the GOTY aleady. Time will tell.

Left 4 Dead

Valve knows online gameplay, and with this, it seems they are doing it right. They are pitting 4 players in a Zombie infested world for some co-op fun. It's a great way to start the game, its a great premise, and with Valve's history of delivering the multiplayer experience of a life time, this has potential.

Mirror's Edge

This game loooks to out of the ordinary for me to get. EA seems to be investing in originality now rather than just stapling numericals and in game advertising onto all its games. Perhaps they realized what makes a good publisher for games. Perhaps not since NFS is still in play. THis game looks like a fun concept but I haven't seen much of it to say why I would want it. I just know that I do.

NFS: Undercover

With Pro Street I thought they killed the series of street racing, it felt like they clubed it or took it out back and put shells in it's skull. With this, they seem to be going back to their roots. Immersion, story, and great great racing be it against opponents or from the cops.

Enough w/ the Red Lights

Enough, this has seriously gotten out of control, so here are my two cents. Please end this stupid equating each red ring of death instance to thousands of units. Its one case per post or confession. You do not hear about millions of cases of 360 working well, because that goes unsaid, it just works and we dont brag. Those who are upset with the red lights, im sorry, but that sucks and Microsoft is actually taking steps to prevent it or help it. I dont support any system more than the other, I think each has benefits and draw backs, but for the love of god, stop saying "ohhh if he has the RROD, so do 90% of 360 owners ie "one caller represents 1 billion people (family guy)"). A clear solution, somoene please start a thread where people confess to never having the RROD, or do, please count them up and end the ridiculous stupidity.

The Future Choices.. (Dramatic Isn't It?)

Well, to occupy myself I decided that it would be an interesting thing to do some blogs down here on gamespot. For the fear of b*tching about unimportant stuff, I will go on. Sure as hell, my monetary funds are going to crumble in light of some games coming up in the near 2-3 months.... Now don't get me wrong, surely there are people who are in need of funds for better and more important stuff, but as a gamer, after I've paid off all of this ear University and living fees, I like the reward (even if I sacrifice a nice dinner for a rez caf one, or even a couple beers). Here is the rundown for me.

Army of Two

I've noticed that impressions are mixed so far, and I hope that the positive ones will be true when the game actually comes out. From a long gameplay video I have seen, it looks good enough to try. The third person perspective they used reminds me somewhat of Gears of War. The visuals look quite good so far, and on par with most of the 360 games. What I am most excited about is the co-op angle that they are taking. Sure other games like Halo, Gears, Vegas had the co-op gameplay, but from what they are claiming, Army of Two is a one of a kind so far. I like the concept from what I've read, and it seems that it will be something to follow.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

I am not going to lie, I was one of the people who actually slept on the first game. I am not sure why it didn't seem too appealing. When I started following this one, I got excited about both. Having recently bought and played through the first game, I have to say that it is easily one of the scariest games I've ever played. Sure there are the ones that are scarier , but the atmosphere for the first Condemned was more than immersive. From what I've seen so far, the second one delivers that and more. The exciting concept for me is the environmental kills and improvement on visuals, especially in fights. I have a feeling I will enjoy doing all kinds of cruel and gruesome things to all the poor homeless. If the gameplay remains the same and atmosphere ups the ante on the "scare you even more" attitude, I'm all in.

Bully: Scholarship Edition

I've played the PS2 version, but unfortunately, due to some PS2 malfunction I've never got a chance to finish it (or God of War 2....... GRRRRRR). So I'm excited to try a better and improved version on the 360. (as for God of War 2, I finished it and I'm glad).

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

They left us in the middle of nowhere with the first ending, that was my impression. Now I am quite happy to see that they are aiming to correct that. All the familiar things are back, and improved on and possibly made better. The multiplayer seems to be even richer this time. For me, after the campaign the multiplayer was a crazy experience. All of my friends played Vegas, and it seems that we will be enjoying this one as well, especially if it plays just as great as it looks right now.

GTA IV

Since November, I couldn't wait for this game to finally come out (well since the day the announced it, but, you know, November extended that wait). Everything about this game seems great. Rockstar always delivered and this time, I hope they do to. The atmosphere seems to be set, the visuals beefed up, and the gameplay even better. The new wanted system seems cool, the small thing like obeying traffic laws not to get wanted level if near cops is neat, the hand to hand combat should be a joy. I'm really excited to see what euphoria is really capable off. I've toyed around with endorphin training programs downloaded straight from Natural Motion, I am very excited about it. With GTA getting closer and closer, and not so far over the horizon anymore, April 29th couldn't get here sooner.

Other 360 games this Spring.

Dark Sector, Too Human, Ninja Gaiden II, Bourne Conspiracy.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Anyone in their right mind should be excited about this game. The original Smash was amazing, I still remember using Captain Falcon to whoop all of my friends' asses. The Melee was a great second game. More characters and better games. To be honest, this is why I got the Wii, a little early, but I wanted to make sure I had it when this game came out , and to be honest, this game will blow me away, I am convinced.

Okami

I loved the PS2 version and a Wii should be no exception.

PS3 (Maybe)

With price drops its a little more appealing, but I do not want to blow away all my money and I still want to eat. I am sure that I will get a PS3 some day, maybe not so soon, but still get it. For now, there aren't too many games in the near months that can possibly entice me to do buy it faster, and the only reason so far is Uncharted. We'll see.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3

One of the better fighting games for me. Sure there is Tekken, Soul Calibur , Dynasty Warriors, Street Fighter, but I really enjoyed Naruto as a fighting game, and for sure, I will blow some dust of the old Ps2 to play this.

The System War In the Real World

Okay i just got back from my little 4 day vacation and i just had to document something. So anyways I was having a good time, walking through a mall and I walked into Gamestop. You know i wanted to check out what's new and just look at the games i might buy soon. I ran into two people having an argument about next gen. Honest too god, one guy was like 21 and the other one was a 12 year old kid. Now this is no joke, the 21 year old guy broke down the whole three systems. He talked about the PS3 and teh cell, the blu-ray, how it has its pluses and minuses, talked about MS and how they have done a lot of right things this year, and about Wii getting innovations like the controller to raise the value of the system. And then he said that due to some mistakes sony made they might not win with the ps3, because of the cost (YES), blu-ray being forced, a lot of failed expectations. He said that it'll be a close battle, but that 360 will win it EVENTUALLY. What did the kid do? He started to say things like "Teh cell will be more powerfull!!! We need blu-ray in the future!!! The PS3 will be the best!!!" This reminded me of SW on here so much, because as always the kids are the ones that make the stupid accusations, or people acting like kids, even when someone unbiased tries to break it down for them and explain the opinion. Oh and when I asked the kid didnt know what exactly the cell was, he just said that he heard from someon that it's supposubly the newest involation in gaming, nothign else. So i guess this kind of levels out to our little shrine of system wars. Where ignorance rules, and "kids" create stupid posts to try and say something that's based on rumours and they know nothing about.

The Whole Blu-Ray in the PS3 Thing.

Oh god i got tired of those pointless little arguments. What actually killed me was this one kid trying to make the PS3 to be a great Multi-Media center because of Blu-Ray. I just want to get this clear with anyone who reads this, please puttng a Movie Player (Pretty Much what a blu-ray is) inside a console system doesnt make it a Multi-Media Center. It makes it a console system with a movie player on the side, and what quality movie player is to be seen. People please stop sayign that bluer ray is the best thing to happen to gaming jsut to justify blowing money out your back for a PS3.

Here is how i view it. Sony couldnt quite live up to the hype of 2005 e3, they needed gimmicks. They gave you blu-ray, to play on the ignorance of the consumer. I mean blu-ray isnte that well established yet, and here comes sony telling you its the next best thing. People listen, ignorant people even make a big deal out of it. What blue ray is, is basically a high def movie player for your PS3, but if history tells us anything then its that you'll need a separeat one for better performance (remember PS2 dvd player?).

So I guess what im trying to say, is taht all these people hyping sony should stop saying that putting a blu-ray inside a console system makes it a multi-media thing. I mean if i put a two-way pager on a middle of my desk, that doesnt make it a computer right?
