Recent events certainly put this video in a completely different light.

As someone suffering from depression myself, I remember wondering why this "game" was so praised by the gaming press back then.

Now that we know she lied about most things I find myself wondering how involved gamespot staff is in this whole mess.

Were you duped by her lies or were you in on it.

The silence around the news speaks louder than words.

(Are we really supposed to believe that copy/paste Eddie Makuch, who'll post any clickbait, hasn't heard about the news yet)

Most try to keep quiet and if anyone says anything on the subject on their private twitter accounts it's, sadly, hinting at support for the corrupted and against gamers (even though they are very careful with how they word it). Still trying to guilt gamers for valid concerns.

I'm disappointed in you, gamespot. The time to take a stand against corruption has come and you're ducking to cover.

Once this is over you'll likely regret that.

Webhallen brought me here. It's been my local retailer since long before they adopted that name and became the powerhouse of they are today (Biggest in Scandinavia I believe).

Lately they've been stirring up news on a more global level. (They made some headlines with their steam machine prototype a while back).

Who am I kidding though. I really just wanted to hear how you were going to pronounce it ;)

@Rushaoz Don't worry. It might show up after a week or so when nobody cares about the article anymore.

OMG that intro. You guys have no honour! I never screencheated and I still won vs friends who did. Tsk tsk.

"Adapting to circumstances" hah! Just because you can cheat doesn't mean you should.

Did you steal your friends toys as well?

That said (in a semi serious half joking tone) this game is based on a pretty clever idea. Doesn't look very fun though.

@Guest1001

From how I remember it: Net Yaroze was a way to pass off the console as a computer.

There were (probably still are) some strange export/import rules that made it way more expensive for Sony to ship consoles to the world than computers. I believe computers had some sort of tax reduction because they are used for work and education.

What Sony did was simply make it so their console fulfilled the criteria to pass the borders as a computer.

@AshTrai Yes and regardless of if they want to admit it or not it can help sales. I've gotten into games I'd never look at if I had to pay for them. Games that I often don't go out and buy but I will buy the sequel or a remake and I will recommend it to others or buy it as a gift.

You know "Papers, Please" had a pretty nice "demo" even though it wasn't called that.

I do miss the cover discs though. Ever since buying expensive imported UK Amiga magazines with a floppy on it up till the PS2 equivalent. I've spent quite a lot of time on some PS3 demos as well and seeing that the publisher must pay Sony every time their demos is downloaded I can understand why there aren't so many around.

The nostalgia though. When I bought my first console, the Playstation (original fat version), I figured it would be best to buy a couple of random games with it. I left the store with Wipeout (yay) and Battle Arena Toshinden (confused it with tekken).

Once home I realized there was a demo disc in the package and ended up spending more time with that than the games I'd bought (although wipeout is awesome).

I can't think of many times a demo made me buy the full game even though it has happened. This is probably the major reason so few developers bother making demos.

Kudos for mentioning Aquaria. It's one of the absolute best indie games I've ever played but it got little attention because it was released before the major indie hype train left the station.

I'll recommend it to anyone who enjoys games like 2D Castlevania (Symphony of the Night style).

Beautiful environments, sound, story & great gameplay. Very well made game all in all.
