DJ, I ended up building very similair to yours. Did you add an extra fan in the back? My temps are going up into the low-mid 50s, is that ok? What are the good/bad ranges for cpu/gpu temps?

Also, what speed do you have your fan running at? Ive noticed theres a big difference noise wise btw mid and high.

Im kinda in the same boat as you, lobster. I prob have a little more experience with the technical aspects of building a comp, although I havent done it before, I figure nows a good time to try it out. Check out this thread ive been following, might give you some ideas: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26895538 Its for a "budget" pc, however, I intend on picking up a little better graphics card which would put the total cost close to your range (round $700). Let me know what you think, im still weighing my options.

Great posts, much appreciated. Think I might have to steal your idea if ya dont mind. Anyone have links to other custom builds slighty more powerful than this? Maybe in the $600-$800 range? What kinda of parts in this rig are worth spending a little more dough on to either beef things up, or leave more room for upgrades? Im trying to weigh my options...is there another site dedicated to custom pc builds like this?

Read the blog and greatly appreciate the help. It seems as though the 9500gt is the best pci card for my situations, however, I checked out the specs on it and it requires a minimum 350w power supply...mine is 300w. Also, doesnt it require pci express? Im under the impression that I just have pci, not the express. Im very noobish and confused, i appologize. Just trying to get things straight

Ok, my rig is a few years old, has a 300w powersupply and no pci-e ports (just regular pci) Im looking for a graphics card to throw in there. Any suggestions? Not really looking to make any other changes, I just need something that will keep the thing running, as the onboard graphics just dont cut it. I realize there arent many options in my position...
