Great Deal for the New Year.

So I have been looking through Steam lately, lookin' for something special, all prices are dropped... and I may buy something. It was all okay and maybe a bit annoying... until I have stumbled on this. Id Super Pack... consisting of 22 FPS(mainly) games ranging from 1990(Commander Keen) to 2004(Doom 3), some of the games are expansions but I still count it as 22. An odd thing about it is that it costs $35... wait what? Ah yeah $35, that's incredible. If you bought all the games separately, it would have cost you $170, well since now costs about 1/5 of the price above... I ain't missing it. It has mostly all the old-school games, most of which I haven't played, and I love old-school stuff like Doom 2... Expect some incredibly old review, GameSpot. 22 games for $35...

Ratings

My system of rating is whether the game was succesful during it's time period and whether I liked. It is infact kind of interesting that some other people rate older games by the factor whether 'it is worth' to play the game today. In my opinion, It is a bit unfair to judge games by their age, and Wolfenstein 3d deserves a much higher score because... man, it invented FPS itself. You would not be playing Crysis right now if there was no FPS :)

My likes and hates...

Ah, GameSpot, a pretty spectacular place just to share your thoughts about various video games. As you may notice, many people have different opinions about different video games of each kind that don't always agree with each other, and I am pretty curious just to sort through them. Since this is a blog in some way, maybe I will write about myself meh.

What do I like? Mostly, I am used to be playing some old games dating all the way from the first FPS game, Wolfenstein 3d(1992)... all the way to Half-life 2, (2004). Even if my PC is entry-level... not quite weaksauce but still, I don't see much potential in gaming consoles like X360 or PS3. I am not sure why not buy a console... (no more bothering with expensive PC parts), I am just not used to all the new crap and I would rather play old-school.

Personal style of gaming is action-filled FPS and entertaining RTS for the most part. Companies like Valve(Half-life), Epic(Unreal Series) and Id(Quake and Doom) will easily fill the FPS gap while Blizzard Entertainment(Starcraft, Warcraft) will solely fit the RTS. My interest to MMORPG(WoW) games has faded in the past time, I feel the mere try of the game for addiction but I am not used for the repetition of RPG, addiction is not my way of living...

I may play some newer games like TF2, Half-life 2 Episodes and maybe upcoming SC2. I am usually trying to choose newer games that don't take a monster computer to swallow. Games that have a bit lighter graphics, in other words - a bit 'cartoony,' are the best choice for my lil PC. Even though SC2 is in upcoming 2009, I am going to be hoping for it to be easy on my computer... the graphics look promising.

Fav Games:

Single Player FPS - Half-Life, Half-life 2, Quake 2, Doom 3, Unreal

Multiplayer FPS - Unreal Tournament Series, Team Fortress 2.

Real Time Strategy - Starcraft, Warcraft 3 - RoC. Warcraft 3 - FT. Possible SC2 in the future.
