Because tans look good? I associate being pale with being unhealthy, and majority of the time if I see someone pale in the summer I assume they're sick or never leave the house. I'm not saying fake tanning, or tanning sprays I mean legit tans, all the fake stuff looks like crap.
I don't go and lay in the sun because that's boring but when it's nice out I'll go exercise or just hangout in the sun because when it's winter here I'm out of luck for doing majority of it outside, such as biking, running, swimming, going to the lake, relaxing walks in the park wearing only shorts and a T, picnics, tennis, the list goes on. Once winter comes around the outdoor activities all involve bundling up before going out, or getting dirty because everything is muddy and/or melting
