Happened to one of my original Xbox 360's, after putting in a brand new game. The DVD drive is worn out or the laser has malfunctioned. If the disc is clean, and it doesn't have any consistent pattern, then look into the DVD drive failing because that's likely the answer.

Been over 2 weeks now that steam (and only steam) has refused to download anything. Means i literally can't play the games i've bought. I've tried absolutely everything, reinstalled it, disabled firewalls/antivirus, changed servers. I sent them a support ticket a week ago but they haven't replied at all.

I think it started after i reinstalled windows 7 (because i upgraded my mobo and cpu) but i can't think of anything that that would affect.

When you attempt to download something, what exactly happens?

So to combat sexism agaisnt women, they discriminate against men. This sounds very familiar. Just like Title IX, VAWA, public education, reproductive rights, ect. It seems like that the more women get into gaming, the more PC, the more censorship and the less free speech we all have. Anything to make women feel "safe", right? ^_^

I don't quite understand how you went from A to B in this post. How exactly are they discriminating against men, can you please clarify this for me?

[Posted on cheapassgamer too, but gamespot's forums seem more active]

Hey guys,

So I'm looking to purchase a 360 off of craigslist seeing as how it's cheaper than Black Friday deals. It's in good condition and comes with two games, cables, controllers, etc. But, how can I tell if it's worth a purchase? How can I tell if it's banned or will get banned? I've purchased plenty of PS3s (3 I think) of off Craigslist and I know the red flags for the PS3, but seeing as how this is my first 360, what should I look for? How can I tell?

It's a slim xbox. I'm coming over his place tomorrow to test it out. So I guess here's some things to look out for.

1. Check the console for physical defects, of course.
2. Power on the console.
2. Does the tray open/close?
3. Does the console read/play discs?
4. Sign in to XBL and see if any error messages come up. Test to see if banned.

These tests should be good enough right?

1. Yup 2. Yup 3. Yup 4. Yup 5. Yes, and yes. For another test: I recommend checking the back of the console to see if the warranty sticker is in anyway damaged, cut or has been removed. This is the best way to check if the console has been opened up at all, albeit it depending on the date of purchase it could be one that isn't capable of being modded. As far as I know Microsoft doesn't ban whole consoles from Live unless they are modified in some way, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's an expensive cable. I went this route for my connection.

newegg - it's $.499.

-

Do you have a hdmi cable laying around? If not, head to a dollar store and pick one up there.

How is your audio situation?

biggest_loser
Thank you for a sensible response. I have a HDMI cable and I'll pick up one of those converters. I'm not sure what to do about audio because I have a speaker set up external to the monitor. Someone said I should buy an audio adapter. But someone else said that I'd have to change the output settings, which is something I don't understand.

I think what they meant is: when you get it set up with your external speakers then you'd have to change the audio output on the PS3 settings. That seems like the most logical explanation to me. The HDMI to DVI converter works great, I use one myself.

Steam sales get me every time. EVERY TIME. I bought the THQ pack on Steam when it was on sale for $30.

All content was included in Dark Souls. New content didn't come out until a over a year later which was developed after the game released. They're probably the only Dev that ever did this with DLC this entire generation.

HardGames420
CD Projekt Red - The Witcher 2. The PC version of this game came out and after getting feedback from the fans that Chapter 3 was too short and left a few plot holes, they went back and created more quests, changed how the environment reacted to the quests and released it free to anyone who bought The Witcher 2 on PC.
