If I walk into a Soul Calibur tournament and use Seigfreid, I can win. If I walk into a BlazBlue tournament and use Tager I can win. If I walk into a Brawl tournament and use Ganondorf I'll get laughed out of the room.
That should be the first thing you should fix. There is a huge difference between a game that is unbalanced and a game where some characters are so incredibly broken that you can't use them.
While I understand pointing out that there were precursors to this event, this article seems to be blaming Sony for those precursors, when in fact, it was the malicious hackers that instantiated those events. They broke in, Sony kicked them out, and then they pouted, leading to this.
Dark Samus (and by extension, Phazon/Phaaze) has all these except motive. Presence: Phazon is everywhere, and almost every enemy you fight is an originally docile creature, corrupted by Phazon. Mystery: What is this stuff? Where did it come from? How is it so powerful? Humanity: Dark Samus showed some at the end of MP2, basically saying, "You're not going to die except by my hand". Now Dark Samus did have a bit of motive after MP1 (that being revenge), but it is a very basic form (you almost killed me, so now I'm gonna kill you). Side note: In the next Smash Bros, Dark Samus should be a Samus skin just like Dark Link is a Link skin. Actually, Samus's different skins should be all different suits.
