My speedy little blue hedgehog hero just doesn't make games like he used to...

Sonic the Hedgehog... if you don't know who that is, something's wrong with you. Sega's amazing, speedy little mascot. He has been in many great games, making his first appearance in 1991. I've been a fan of him every since I first heard of him when I was a kid. I love his colour, his speed, his personality and attitude, everything about him. He's like my hero. I love a lot of his games. His games that were made YEARS ago... Sadly enough, Sonic just can't come up with any good games recently. His old 2-D games were great, especially Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic CD, those were the best in my opinion; I still have fun playing them. And his 3-D games for Gamecube--Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic DX, and Sonic Heroes--those games were amazing! They're some of my favourite games ever and I really enjoy playing them! Then... after Sonic riders was created, everything seemed to fall down from there. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy playing Sonic Riders for it's great amount of speed and lush visuals, however, the control is completely messed with, and the reason why the fastest thing alive would ever have to use an airboard is beyond me. He's a hell of a lot faster than those junk boards are. And the sequal to Sonic Riders--Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity--was just plain pathetic. I play the game sometimes when I'm bored, but the controls are even worse than the first one, and you actually go REALLY slow in the game. Doesn't live up to the Sonic speed expectations. Also, the rest of Sonic's Wii games suck too--mainly for the crappy controls and uninteresting storylines. Let's face it, the Sonic and the Secret Rings is an epic failure... the controls just completely suck, it just ruins the whole thing for me, and it's sequal, Sonic and the Black Knight, isn't much better. The only thing I like better about it is that the control is slightly better, SLIGHTLY, and Sonic wields a sword. The story and plot is stupid though. Sonic Unleashed... I was hoping for a breathrough. I thought Sonic turning into a werehog would be kinda cool. Sadly, it's not though. The day levels are great--bursting with speed, fun, and colourful graphics. The night levels are horrible--bad control, slow movement, and continous monster fights that repeat within every stage. Gets boring quite easily. And Sonic the Hedgehog, the one for PS3 and Xbox 360... well, obviously a lot of people didn't enjoy it. I didn't exactly like the control or the graphics, however, the storyline and the length make it one of the best Sonic games in a few years I think. I think it's great that you can explore wide areas again like in Sonic DX as well as do levels. I just really wish the controls were a lot better and stuff... Sonic Rush was also quite good. The speed and graphics and the use of both the DS screens is a nice touch and is fun to play. I'm currently enjoying Sonic Chronicles the Dark Brotherhood, but it doesn't exactly have the Sonic feel to it because it's an RPG... there's no speed in it or anything. I still enjoy it as it is a good game, though. You can make Sonic say some pretty sarcastic things. So... yeah, that's my point. Sonic is my amazing, speedy little hero whose games continue to disappoint the world. I'll continue to buy them cause I'm a die hard fan, but he better upgrade his games to Super Sonic if he wants to keep sales going and be remembered as having some of the greatest videogames of all time. ... Hope you can do it, Sonic.

Soul Calibur IV... disappoints me.

When I first heard SC4 was coming out, I was probably the happiest chick in the world. I had so much fun with SC2 and SC3--they're some of my fav games ever. I love the new characters Setsuka and Tira from SC3, so I couldn't wait to try them out on SC4. I was impressed by the stunning graphics and the smooth gameplay of the game. I had a lot of fun when I first tried it out, killing all my opponents and doing lots of specific matches in versus mode. It was a lot of fun. But then... it started to get really boring. Sure, I love how there's an online thing. It's great that SC fans can now duke it out online. That's probably the best thing about this game. However, a lot of people online are a lot better than me... so I don't do it often. That's certainly not the reason I'm writing this blog, though. I'm sure many of you out there disagree with me, but this game is quite boring to me now. There is seriously nothing to do on it. Besides the characters miserable excuse of a story mode, arcade mode, towers of souls, and online... there's nothing! The previous games had championships, missions, survival, team battles... there were so many different things to do, and you could have the same amount of fun doing them over again! There is NOTHING to do on SC4! I bought all their good weapons, made them crazy strong... oh yes, that reminds me. The Character Creation mode. I think the new version of it is both good... and bad. The good is that you can create very strong characters, increasing their attack, defence, and HP depending on the armor you put on them. Plus you can create 50 characters... that tricked me. I thought you could create 50 characters for EVERYTHING... like 50 different versions of every original character, and 50 of your own. Sadly, as I figured out recently, that's not the case. The other bad is that if you make your character really strong... they'll end up looking retarded. So... yeah, that's basically my point. I want my characters to look good when I use them. So, that's the point of my blog. True, I will still say SC4 lives up to it's series name, and it's a very fun fighting game with great characters and astonishing graphics. However, with very little things to do and the storyline growing weaker... I'm just hoping this isn't where the SC series breaks down and dies. To be honest, the only reason I play this game now is because I love the fighting system and the characters. That's it. I hope the SC games to come impress me.
