i had my elite for about 2 months before it crashed. (i actually got it a week before launch thanks to kmart and the geriatrics that work night shift and dont know any better) a screen would actually appear with some code and told me to call MS customer serivce and reference the code. i sent it back in july. since then i have experienced no problems
you can buy them as a pack (controller, battery and play and charge kit) or each piece seperately. but the price is the same no matter which way you purchase them.
