I've got a new girlfriend. It's been going great, thanks for asking.

However, when it comes to gaming (one of my favorite hobbies), there aren't any games in my x-box 360 library that we both enjoy. She apparently has this thing against simulated death.

We play a lot of NES together (Rampart, Super Mario Bros, and Tetris) and recently she's really gotten into some of my iPhone games (Flight Control and Lemonade Tycoon), but I don't have any games that two people can play simultaneously that don't involve assault rifles and headshots. I did try to get her into Portal once, but that game is confusing to someone who has never played an first-person game before.

She saw a few seconds of gameplay from the new Wii Super Mario Bros and she wanted to get it. Now, I don't have a Wii, nor is that game out yet. But basically she likes the idea of multiplayer platformers. And no, unfortunately I don't have a PS3 either, sackboys.

Anyone know of any games for Xbox 360 (maybe on Arcade?) that would be fun for her (and I)?

Well, I don't think that'd be fun. I mean, empathize with the person who can't beat GOW with the television off, the ones who play on the Normal difficulty. It's not like they want to play against stupid AI. No one wants to play against stupid AI. Even gamers who aren't that good. It's no fun to play against bots who get stuck on doors or don't use cover or... You name it.

I think you're just playing the wrong kind of game. GOW, Halo, LFD, all of those games are enjoyed by plenty of people who don't have a problem with them. Apparently you have a different taste in games.

Yes, Bioshock was marketed. I remember reading interviews with the developers about all the different kinds of water effects they were dealing with.

Depends on what you mean by hype. If by hype, you mean marketing and publicity, then hype only barely effects me.

I admit, I was excited for Mirror's Edge at first, but as more gameplay videos came out, it looked more and more like a decent idea that wasn't fully fleshed out (specifically the combat videos). When the reviews came out, they pretty much said what I was worried about, so I didn't buy it.

I was a little disappointed by Mass Effect, but that's mostly because the "big," "epic" story just wasn't that meaningful to me. I just couldn't get into it. I know a lot of people would disagree with me, but that's okay. Also, I was disappointed because the dialogue options were, as a majority, irrelevant. Whether you were rude or benevolent, they'd still respond more or less with the same information, most of the time. And I just was expecting something else. I didn't regret buying the game or anything.

As for GTA VI, well, it's impossible for a GTA game NOT to be hyped. The same as a Metal Gear game. I can see why some people wouldn't like GTA VI, but I loved it. I mean, the core game missions may not be a show stopper, but I just love sandbox games. I mean, the simple act of driving a car as fast as you can for as long as you can without wrecking or slowing down.... For some reason that's incredibly fun for me. And exploring is fun. And there's plenty to do. I wasn't disappointed by GTA VI at all. But the last GTA i played was Vice City, so VI was a nice improvement.

Hype can only ruin your perception of the game if you let it. You have to have discernment when you're reading the previews, interviews, and ads. You have to read in between the lines sometimes... But why get hyped up for a game that isn't out yet? Just don't think about much it until it's out. Read reviews, watch gameplay videos, rent, or watch a friend play, and then decide if you want to buy it.

Informed decisions.

So, I was playing Fallout 3 earlier today. I'm level 18, and on the last main storyline quest, but I decided to explore and level up a little more, because I hear the game ends after you finish the last one. So, I'm in the middle of exploration, I just left the Oasis, and I was cruising around looking for trouble, but I needed to leave and saved my game. I only have two save files: the autosave and a single "In Case I Don't Get Out of this Alive" save.

I just got back home, and loaded my "In Case..." file, and for some reason, I'm in a rock. Somehow it replaced me just a little under the game's geography. But I can't jump out. I hit my head on the "roof" of the rock, and I can't run out, because the rock sides. I even tried stupid stuff like shooting a missile at my feet or dropping a grenade to see if I can blast myself back into the game's normal geometry. No luck. So, I think, "That sucks. Looks like I have to use the auto save file and start over back when I left the Oasis." I load the autosave, but for some reason, it sinks me into the dirt. It's like I'm wading through the path, only it's really choppy because the camera doesn't know where it should be, so it's kind of sickening. But I tried running around to somehow unlodge myself, and I can't do it.

And now, halfway through my post, I just tried reloading both files, and there was no luck on the first save, but I reloaded the autosave, and now, suddenly it works. Until just this moment, I was terrified that 30-50 hours just went down the toilet.

Any other weird bugs you've experienced? Funny or exasperating?

Playing through Mass Effect a second time. I was so bored I felt like killing myself to make the pain stop.PlasmaBeam44
I locked myself in the closet and cried for seven hours after trying that. Ugh. The second time around was brutally boring.

Mass Effect is almost exactly what you're looking for... The only problem is that portions of the dialogue center around imaginary science and species.

Damn, why are you people so jumpy about this metal gear thing. If you really want to play it so bad why dont you stop playing cheap and go crank dat ps3, that'll save you the headache...jeeze...VIRGIN_ISLANDER

Because for some weird reason, some people don't want to spend $460+ on a system and game if (as long as they're patient) they don't have to.
