Are video games becoming art?

I was a film student in college. We spent a lot of time analyzing films and discussing whether or not film is art or entertainment.

Now USC has a graduate program devoted to "Interactive Media". In many ways, video games today are what film was in the early 1900s.

Today, a lot of independent films are considered art. Some movie theatres even call themselves "Art Houses".

Is it concievable that video games could be considered "art" in the next few years? What would be the difference between an artistic video game and an entertaining video game?

That's just what I'm thinking about today.
