@ender_val @ShadowHawk676 It would be nice sure if developers tried to tackle issues we have in society in games but I don't think GTA V is one of the games that is obligated to do this since they have a long running track record of just making fun of that stuff and never really trying to address it seriously. For example I always find the adverts and talk radio stations in GTA games as the biggest examples of them just making fun of stuff. And to me at least are clear parody I don't see how anyone could take them seriously.

Now this just may be stuff I've read from the author, like I said the only stuff I've read her stuff when it's posted on forums or if I happen to come across an article of hers (I usually read my gaming stuff from other websites then casually browse places like Gamespot or IGN). Everytime I read or watch something it seems like the issue of sexism is always put front and centre,

When a game like this comes out you expect controversial topics to be poked fun at such as sexism, racism, corruption in politics and the main characters are obviously bad people then less than a minute into the video review she criticizes the game for being sexist but there's no mention of any of the other topics addressed in the game. I'm in no way offended by this but when a minute in you jump on the sexism involved but none of the other issues then it feels like it's crowbarred in because that's an issue she's passionate about. Which is fine but you can be passionate about an issue without crowbarring it into your job.

If someone is reviewing it and said it has a bad story ok that's the reviewers view but to call the game out for being misogynistic when it's clearly parody then you need to call the game racist, in favour of government torture and gang violence. It's clearly parodying those things at least to me, I don't know if other people were told as a child but I've played violent games all my life and was never needed to be told "this is just a game and we shouldn't do these things". Maybe it's just because I saw it for what it was just a game.

That being said I've seen petitions asking for the author to get fired. If anyone on this site actually signed that I need to ask why? because she put forth something you don't like. I don't like what she said in at the start of the review but I'm not signing a petition to get her to lose her job over it. You're free to criticize the review but wanting someone to lose their job over it? Get a life people.

@ender_val @ShadowHawk676 I can see what you're saying but in a game that's rated for adults it seems pretty clear to me that only adults should be playing it. If you can't see the satire of issues we have in the real world then maybe you aren't mature enough to be playing it (don't mean you personally there just people in general). You definitely aren't mature enough if you see something like violence, racism, sexism etc in a video game then go out into the world and start behaving that way.

Could these issues be addressed while still making fun of them? Sure they could but that's not the point I was making. It's not the developers job to address these issues in a virtual world if they just want to make fun of it, it's ours in the real world. All I see the devs doing here is poking fun at the issue along with many other issues we have as a society. Is a game developers job to address issues with politics or corrupt government agencies? No but I feel they can still make fun of it.

I've only really read a few articles from the author myself and only because they were posted on forums so I can't point to towards the exact articles because everything on a google search comes up with this GTA 5 stuff now but I'm sure if you look long enough it'll show up.

OK we get it Carolyn you were born the wrong gender, can you stop crowbarring the misogyny line into your reviews and articles now? It's a GTA game there's always misogyny, racism and general elements we know aren't right. It has always poked fun at this stuff, even though GTA has gone a bit more serious than it used to be story wise we know it's still making fun of stereotypes.

Hilarious how this site of all places makes a video against fanboys when you have a board of your own forums which encourages fanboys to spout their BS

Funny how we never saw articles like this when the same sort of stuff was used in the latest Tomb Raider. Male characters died in that game to push Lara's story forward. But it didn't matter then. And it shouldn't have because it was an enjoyable story as was TLOU.

I like the part though were it's asked what if Joel and Tess had been switched. Well based on what we see of Tess earlier in the game, the entire last level probably wouldn't have happened (don't want to spoil anything but if you've played it you know what I mean).

I get what you're trying to say in this article but I think you completely missed the point of the story in TLOU.
