Gaming. For some, it's a nice hobby, for some it's a cause of violence, and for others it's a way of life. Throughout my life, I've had my fair share of fond gaming memories, and I'm sure you have too! So, let's regale our favourites!
My first Video Game: I was around six years old, and it was a boring summer day. My mother came home from work with an 'NES' console. I had no idea what video games were, but I liked the look of the gray box. Upon plugging it in the TV, I was greeted by a bright, colorful screen with cutting edge graphics. I was completely sucked in. I completely forgot about mere 'toys' and video games became my new (and still are) obsession. I remember not wanting to leave the house that day.
My first SNES game: Let me get this out of the way, Yoshi's Island is one of my favourite games of all time. I remember seeing this game for the first time, I saw rivers of lava glittering and shining as they cascaded down the blue stones inside that cave. I remember it having the prettiest graphics I had ever seen. However, what I remember most would come at the end of the game, when I crapped my pants at the final boss. Seeing a massive Baby Bowser slowly walking towards you (In 3D!), with that SNES heavy metal blaring was one of the most mind blowing things you would ever experience. I remember legitimately being scared.
My first M rated game: I remember hiding this PS2 game, Metal Gear Solid 2, in my shirt as I entered the house because I still couldn't play M rated games. I was a bit scared before I started it, after all I had never played an M rated game before, who knows how violent it could be? For some reason, I thought the bad guys would mutilate Snake if he got caught, so I was extra careful, even though I was horrible at the game at first. I remember me whispering to my sister as I was playing, as though the guards would hear me if I spoke up. That Tanker chapter of Metal Gear Solid 2 remains the most tense part of any video game I had ever played.
So, what are your fondest gaming memories?
