This is one thing I like about Gamespot. Or, well, used to, I think they give 10's more frequently now than they used to back in the PS1 era.

Anyway, you have to keep things in perspective, or the ratings become meaningless. AÂ score of ten out of ten should be reserved for a game that you can hardly find a fault in, a game that reinvents the genre, and/or has a timeless quality. Bioshock Infinite, while I'm sure its a great game, is not any of those three.Â

There have been several games recently that have got a ten, and IMO, none of them deserved it. MGS4 and SMG2, maybe, but GTA4 hell no.

In short, the reason I think the 10/10 rating is so rare now is simply because none of the games deserve it. Â Most developers now want easy money, and aren't willing to try something very different.
