@Tielo1 @ShaneKi Sorry, that does sound a bit confusing doesn't it. What I was trying to say, was that I don't understand why people feel that they are entitled to so much input. I think it's great that a company has obviously been listening to the feedback they have received (with the exception of the kinect, which they seem to be sticking by).
It seems to me, that there are a lot of people acting quite childish that Microsoft haven't designed a system that specifically suits their needs. This does not include yourself, as you seem to be a very intelligent person.
I hope that Plus delivers a great product as well. I think Sony has learnt a great deal about the online service from the PS3 and I've got high expectations of what they're going to deliver.
I will probably get an Xbox One eventually, but the PS4 will be my release day purchase for sure.
@Tielo1 I think it's interesting that everyone feels that they should have so much input into a product being released by a company. They are making a commercial decision to build a product with new features and have been listening to the feedback from gamers and implementing numerous changes based on this.
If an extra $100.00 for a piece of hardware is too much for people to handle, or they can't afford it, then simply don't buy one. You don't complain to a car manufacturer that a car has power windows, when you don't want them.
Don't get me wrong, I'm getting a PS4. I simply don't understand why people are getting so upset about the inclusion of the Kinect, when no-one is forcing them to buy it.
@youngnastyyman I agree that it is unlikely to go away anytime soon. Unless we, as the paying customers, stand up and make a stand against it. The only time cheating is a problem is when people are playing online. You need to be connected for cheating to be an issue so an "always-online" console is not going to regulate online-cheating any better than a standard console.
I'm hoping this might turn into a positive though. If this is a flop, along with Sim City, Diablo 3 etc, then maybe developers will finally get the idea.
@youngnastyyman @ShaneKi @McGregor As a customer that has never pirated an Xbox game in my life, I do not see any positives to always online at all. Always-online gives me nothing that can't be done through a standard online console.
@youngnastyyman When someone is blatantly defending a large company, you'll find that a lot of people check their profile. It's part of being an informed consumer.
@youngnastyyman @ShaneKi @McGregor I'm not trying to flip the argument. It's a genuine concern. You are all over this thread, defending Microsoft and the rumoured "always-online" component of the 720. Please don't take this as a personal attack either. The circumstances seem strange to me is all.
@youngnastyyman @ShaneKi @deadpen If I have issues with my internet connection I do call my ISP and get it sorted. They have given me discounts in the past if I have had issues (I do a lot of IT work so I need a good connection all the time). Do you think Microsoft will be giving me discounts because their system requires a stupid "always online" connection? I don't think so.
