i would say do yourself and the game a favor. as demonstrated by the reviewer on this site... IF YOU DON'T LIKE PVP, DON'T PLAY THIS GAME. (it would have been better for the reviewer and the game if he had just stuck to cuddling with his NPC monsters and never stepped foot in fury.) however, if you enjoy online fps sorts of games against real players but want a deeper customization to your character abilities, this game is great. i've been playing it for a few weeks. and i love it. it makes the pvp in gw look like the zombies in dawn of the dead; sloooooooooooooooow. the abilities are pretty powerful and the charge system they are based on is very flexible and strategic. maps and gametypes will be added and updated as the game evolves ("age of the chosen" around december 14 is the first gametype/map/ability additions as well as some existing feature overhauls).

anyway, i won't go on and on. i'll just say, if you like pvp and fast paced play, coupled with a LOT of abilities and possibilities, definitely worth it! if you don't have any inclination for pvp, don't like to design a build, or can't follow fast paced action (seriously, if you don't like any one of those things)... stay far away.

well i have not played wow. i've played Eve Online, City of Heroes, Guild Wars, etc and then stuff like UT2K4, Far Cry, HL2, CS:S, etc, all over extended periods. obviously i haven't had much time with Fury but from what i've experienced it is amazing. if i compare it to these other games (as it is a blend between 2 genres, i.e. build-designing team-based shooter) i would have to say this is a fantastic new game. definitely worth getting.

the fact that you can plan out incarnations (i.e. classes, so to speak, but much less limited) which allow for very deep and evolving strategies, as well as find power-ups in combat (e.g. health/defense buffs, offense buffs, blood tokens, etc), experience varied combat styles (e.g. vortex- sort of a CTF with multiple active flags, bloodbath- deathmatch, and elimination- team deathmatch, as well as the "challenge" systems which allow for duels between rivals for instance or simply practice battles, etc), and then it is all rolled together in a fully scalable graphics engine which is absolutely beautiful on high-render (though quite a system hog), but still functional on low-end render... it all adds up to something with a huge potential. and the very noticable fact that the developers are present in the community, establishing official public forums (which they frequent daily) and have a singular focus to make this the best pvp-focused game that they possibly can... well that's just even more promise.

so, like i said, even though i am rather new to fury (didn't participate in the beta's or the fury challenge), i definitely enjoy the game a lot and i think there are big things in store for the future of fury. if you don't buy it now you will prolly be looking at it again later. so do yourself a favor and pick it up... of course, make sure you have the "recommended" specs before you do. the "minimum" specs are there to run the low-end renderer, and while the gameplay is still very engrossing, having those awesome graphical details are what make this a fantastic game, imo. otherwise it's still just a good game.

a disclaimer though: if you're a RPG "carebear" who wants to cuddle with AI controlled monsters or wander around exploring or fishing or if you're a FPS sniper with aim-bots on camping in the most amor-laden tower or something inane and lacking challenge or competition, don't buy this game... ever.

this may end up being a long post so skip it if you aren't currently recruiting in your guild...

Is Your Guild Recruiting?

i have just left a guild due to inactivity. most everyone has sort of left off playing guild wars lately and it has gotten quite boring being one of two or three members online. so i am interested to know if anyone knows of any guilds that are recruiting that would be a good fit for what i'm looking for. so, allow myself to introduce... myself.

i'm 28 years old so i'm looking for a mature group. i have been playing guild wars since the release. i bought every new chapter upon release. i play in the eastern time zone and usually for a couple hours every day (usually some time between 5-10pm during the week). i have good reflexes and a good understanding of every profession because i play as a mesmer in pvp most of the time. i would prefer to communicate with a voice chat server like teamspeak or ventrillo. i would say my favorite part of guild wars is finding new skill combinations even across multiple players.

as far as my account, i've got my main character Ockhams Razor who is a mesmer primary with every secondary unlocked, about 60 elite skills so far (well on my way to the 90-skill title), many green weps, and a few sets of 15k armor. i've also got a few other characters (monk, necromancer, ranger, ritualist, assassin, and dervish) the most advanced of these being my monk Humble Token who has all prophecies and factions professions unlocked but only about 20 elite skills atm. and he has a few green weps and off hands. he also has a couple sets of armor (including a 55 set). and my dervish is developing pretty quickly too.

i enjoy doing missions with mostly all guild members, much less without guildies, but i really like pvp. especially with a guild group. i have tried to organize pvp matches in my previous guilds but have not really found people as interested in it as i am. never the less, from the experience i have had, i currently have 11 fame points and 10 gladiator points. i know it's not much but if i can find a group who can regularly attend pvp matches, i will definately be there and that should boost my numbers.

so if anyone knows of a guild that's recruiting right now, i might end up bringing a few of my old guild mates with me as well. whisper me in-game or post a reply here. thanks.

(on a related note, if you have a multi-game clan i also have BF2142, HL2, CS:S, Far Cry, and UT2K4 that i still play from time to time. but guild wars has been my favorite game.)

i believe you only get two more character slots for each additional release you buy. unless you use it as a seperate account and not add it into your first account. in that case you should get another 4 character slots, but why would you do that?
