Final Fantasy XIII on the way

That's right, the game is currently being shipped to me and not long left until I find out the truth, the reason why I originally bought a ps3. Will it be worth it? I bet it will and I don't have to play it to know the answer lol I bet other FF fans are importing this game as well and some of them received the game already. All I can say is merry christmas and have fun with the game, it came on the right time didn't it? It's like a christmas present. To me it certainly is a present I received from someone special :) Can't wait until the game is here and I can update the blog with some detailed impressions. Fabbing will have to do for now!

Devil May Cry 1

Before I start talking about this game, first I'd like to thank the people who wished me luck on college and sorry to have not updated the blog since then. It has been a busy time and it still is, but I can always try and update the blog from time to time.

So this time it's about Devil May Cry 1. A game that I am currently playing on my own and am enjoying it a lot. Don't get me wrong, I have played it when it was released as well but only for a small about of time and it was mostly me watching my brother how he plays the game. When it got released, I really liked the game and itfelt like a classic to me instantly.

Devil May Cry 2 was released, and I watched my brother playing it. It seemed kinda boring and different compared to the orginal back then. It could be that we didn't give it enough of a chance and Devil May Cry 1 was simply too amazing.

Devil May Cry 3 got released too and I bought that one and played the start of it, this one is pretty good actually and captures the orginal the most. It felt more like a hack and slasher and felt more complicating but I think if I'd play it now I'd have a blast and think it's just amazing :D

Devil May Cry 4 I received on my birthday and played the first few stages again, still early. And I think with this one it was apparent that it was very hack and slash like and just wasn't as interested. I like the new character Nero though and the story looked interesting, Maybe if I'd play it again and give it a fair chance I might think differently.

So I kept thinking, could Devil May Cry 1 not be that amazing as in my memories and was it just an illusion that I thought it was a classic? You know when you play a game at a young age, you think it's amazing and when you go back to it after a couple of years it disappoints. Maybe Devil May Cry 1 was just like the rest, a hack and slasher and wasn't that special.

Well, I can say that my fond memories didn't deceive me, the game plays nice, the environments are great and the pacing is just perfect. You don't feel that it's too repetitive compared to the other 3 games in the franchise and the atmosphere is very important. With little details and descriptions on everything that you investigate. I guess Devil May Cry 1 is this detailed because it used to be a Resident Evil project. Regardless, the game is pretty much perfect and better than the other 3 so far. I might change my mind after playing with Devil May Cry 3 and 4 while also finishing them, but I'm glad that my memories didn't deceive me. Devil May Cry 1 is a classic.

Tick Tock...

Is it me or does it feel like time is slowing down? At least, that's how it looks like. Time has been moving so fast the last couple of years, except for this year. This might be happening because I'm in a crucial moment with college. I haven't been doing too well lately, mostly focused on other activities. In other words, slacking off :P But I have three months left to earn the credits that I need. It's going to be hard, especially French, economic aspects and market research. Well, there's no choice but to work hard now. I have to, I don't know what I'll do if I fail. Only the thought of it is scaring me to death. Wish me luck, whoever is reading this :)

The wii has arrived

Yep, the wii. I finally have one after such a long time. It was supposed to be my first purchased next gen console but things turned out differently and I got a ps3 instead. The reason was mainly because I was disappointed with the way nintendo is heading. Well, I got a nice deal and managed to get the smallest console anyway.

Let me tell you how much I missed nintendo. Games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Paper Mario 64, Legend of Zelda a link to the Past put a smile in my face. It's magic I tell ya!

I can go hunt Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda TP and No more Heroes now :P The virtual console is like a walhala, haha.

Ahem, enough of talking and back to playing games.

Bye bye (Xiaoyu style)!

Valkyria Chronicles

Remember how the ps1 and ps2 used to be kings in RPGs? When I bought my ps3 last year, I expected the same. As time has passed, I'm aware things are different now. Not many (if not at all) RPGs have been released and the Xbox 360 got a few RPGs that are not what they should be. Though Tales of Vesperia looks really good.

Where am I getting at you ask? Valkyria Chronicles, an SRPG released at the end of October, a game which I wasn't that much excited about and it got little buzz. That is, until I tried the demo out. Everything has changed since then.

The game is a true classic and truly brings new things to the SRPG genre. It changed the genre like how Mario 64 changed platformers and 3d. The game is very special and does everything right. I can't explain how it plays since you really need to play it in order to understand it. Let's just say it's a mix of FFTA, gears of war and real-time mixed with turnbased. Crazy, I know. Coupled with excellent graphics that looks like a painting, engaging story that puts huge emphasis on character development, great dubs in Japanese and English (the English dub is really good) and amazing soundtrack (You expect no less from Sakimoto) and you have the best HD (S)rpg released now.

If you're an rpg fan or a newcomer interested in the genre but think they are too complicated, this games is a must have. Go get it!

EDIT:

I decided to put this little text in the review section too since it's kind of like a mini-review :P

Xbox and Dead or Alive

Back when the ps2 was the king and the gamecube and xbox were behind, I was supporting the gamecube only. It's still one of my favourite consoles. But when I got a job and had some cash to spare, all that changed. I got a ps2 and a used xbox afterwards. I was pretty much happy with my ps2, but not much with my xbox. I got the machine for Dead or Alive series only and therefore played them the most.

Our local gamestore had a few great deals for xbox games. I grabbed games like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Otogi, Halo 2, Riddick blabla, Sudeki etc and brought my xbox back next to my tv. Wow! I'm having a great time. The games are awesome. Sudeki has a few small problems, but it's still pretty fresh and has a few nice ideas. Harry Potter and the chamber and secrets (the only Harry Potter that I own), is also good actually. I haven't played other HP games, but I heard this one is considered the best with the latest one released. Jade Empire, Shenmue 2, Otogi 2 and DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball are next to be purchased when I find them.

Suddenly I had the urge to play DOAU as well. The game playes just as good as before. It aged well. Everything is perfect except for no FMVs at the end like DOA3. After playing it for an hour, I remembered why I got an xbox. The game is really this good IMO. The xbox is a good console with a few decent games. It should have had more Japanese style games, the console had huge potential for more games. But I guess I'm happy with what I have as well now.

Fresh start

So much has happened the last couple of days. Where shall I begin?

First of all, it's been really hectic in college. Work, work, WORK is all I can think of. I wonder I'll survive this one with me able to pass

On gaming news, lots of great games to play. I especially didn't expect to like PSN games so much. Pixeljunk Monsters for instance. Lovely game, a bit hard but having a challenge is good as well. Dark Mist is also very nice. And I just got Tekken DR. That one I already had for the psp, so I was unsure if the psn version was worth it. I'm glad I bought it in the end.

As for retail games, Enchanted Arms (ps3) and FFCC on the ds are the latest ones I bought. I'm very impressed with EA. Lots of people dissed this game while it wasn't really that bad. But hey, I love Fromsoftware. Lost Kingdoms games (especially II) were great too. FFCC is good too. Different than the gamecube one. I'm not sure if it's better though.

FFVIICC is almost here. 15 more days!

I shall work hard in college and receive FFVIICC after that. I hoop it will be a happy ending like that :D

Adios!

Nooooo!!!!

Yes, I'm still alive...I feel so angry! Why you ask?

It was a wonderful day where I decided to restart FFX on my ps2 for the second time (remember previous my blog). I was really far and collected lots of stuff and special weapons. I was more than 100 hours playing with this game. But when my ps3 came, I barely had the time to touch my ps2 and don't feel like changing the scart cable every time I want to use it. So I decided to buy a memory card converter so that I can play FFX with my save file on the ps3. I bought a cheap one since I was only planning on using it once. Guess what? That memory card converter deleted part of my ps2 memorycard! Including FFX  FFXII and X-2 barely made it. If there were gone too, I don't know how mad I would have been. For now, I'll leave FFX for a while. I'm playing FFVII now. You know, I'm not a FFVII lover. FFVIII is much better in my opinion. But playing it again on my ps3 it was a different experience than before. I like it much more now. That is good since FF7CC on the psp is coming in a few months. I can't wait!

Ps3 is here!

And the impossible has happened...I got myself a ps3! After the pricedrop and the limited 60gb edition, I decided to get myself one as well. And boy was I surprised  The console is amazng. It is a great gaming machine that has lots of applications as well. The internet connection went smooth, the machine is very quiet, Resistance fall of Men is amazing (and I usually hate FPS) and everything screams next-gen about it. I can't wait until FFXIII, MGS4, RES5, DMC4, SH5 and SO4 get released to see what the machine is more capable of. Also I tried RFOM online just once (RpgN ID) and I really sucked. But hey, I never played online or FPS games before. It's a start

Little time

So, the holiday is over and it's time for school again :( I'm having little time in playing games and International Bussines and Languages is much harder then I thought. Well not really hard, but you need to put all your soul to it and no time doing things for your own. However I did meet lots of new friends and it's kind of like a fresh beginning. I hope I can make it!

As for FFX...I'm inside Sin again. I still haven't found all the secrets, but do have all the aeons (anima, magus sisters etc.), have 3 powerfull weapons (nirvana, musume etc.), two Sigils, all the Al bhed letters and have almost all the monsters in Monster Arena. A whole improvement from the last time, but I still need to do lots of things. I still need to get the other 4 weapons, 5 Sigils, defeat the dark aeons, defeat all the powerfull monsters in Monster Arena and defeat Omega weapon. This game has so much replay value that it's preventing me from playing and finishing other games! Though it's worth it, cuz it's one of the best games out there.

Yet, I'm thinking about the ps3 a lot lately. Even though I don't have the money for it, I'm really starting to want it like a crazy. I'm thinking about putting some money away until December and borrow the rest from a bank. It's going to be lots of money, but it's totally worth it in my opinion. Especially the bundle with Resistence FOM, Motorstorm and another Sixas controller. Oh, and I need to get ready for FFXIII!
