6 years later and I just completed the game on PC. I played in 4K, the graphics aged nicely and the PC port made up for all the mistakes. So all is forgiven Capcom, now bring us part 2! Changed my score from 6 to 9/10. gg
350+ hours, platinum trophy, and I still do not recommend playing it on the PS3 or any Bethesda game. The 1.4 patch "improved" the frame-rate but it was still unreliable and unbearable with the loading screens and frequent game crashes.
Words alone cannot express my disappointment with this game and Capcom. In my 25 years of constant gaming (thousands of games) I've never had this happen to me on any system or game ever. 40 hours into the game and I was enjoying most of it but now its lost because of this games craptastic single save file system. I'm quite sure I didn't exit the game while it was loading or some other asinine user error. I wont be restarting or touching anything made by Capcom and will do my best to recommend the same for the masses.
Been visiting GS since 98 and the search feature has never been reliable. Recently its gotten worse, I search for game and the loading screen hangs literally forever. Any news on getting this fixed? To be fair, in my experience most search functions on sites tend to suck, but I dont visit them nearly as often.
Square deserves this especially after their lies on why the PS3 version was delayed. I appreciate the review despite the desperate request from SE to not review it.
Looking at the the critic and user scores for FFXIV has strengthened my confidence in user scores. This is a game I nearly bought and upgraded my PC for. Had it not been for some controversial (often dismissed) user scores which were up ages before the critic scores I'd be out alot of money. Critics were even asked by Square Enix to hold back on reviewing the game...things like that make me weary of critic scores.
