Looking back in the history of video games, we canĀ“t help but to notice the prevalence of FPS based on the events of World War II. Sure, war is hell and it is always fun and enthralling to experience a little bit of that tense and unique atmosphere in the safety of our homes. But the lack of any World War I FPS has left me wondering if that subject is avoided by game producers,or if it is simply overlooked. Either way, it is a shame because some unique features of that war, like gas bombs, would make for some neat gameplay tweaks that could boost the variety inside the FPS genre. In my opinion, this could be an "escape route" for FPS fans, who might be getting tired of killing nazis with Thompsons, to play as a larger variety of nations and engage in battles in other locations of the world.
