Gamespot Reviews

I noticed something about Gamespot reviews that's actually making me a bit mad at them now... When they review, they usually compare games to other games which ticks me off quite a bit. They should concentrate on the game they're reviewing, not other games, the only time they should compare games is if two games are 80% the same. It's always, "The graphics are like this game" or "The sound is like that game" not, "This game's sound is quite nice." or "The graphics fit in quite well for the game." Another thing that makes me a bit mad is their review for virtual console games. They compare them to remakes of games like GameBoy Advance versions. They totally ignore the fact that a Virtual Console game is suppose to be an exact copy of the original thing, and last time I checked, Gameboy Advance didn't exist when SNES came out. They act as if these games are supposed to be improved in graphics, and because of that, reviews contradict. One example, The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time for Virtual Console got a rating of 8.5. The Nintendo 64 version has a perfect 10 on their score. I'm not saying 8.5 is bad, I'm saying that they don't pay attention to the fact that these games were built for old systems. Let me ask, how are you gonna compare one game to another game that didn't even exist during it's time? They honestly should remember the system the game was on and base their reviews on that. They practically did it during the beginning too, example, Mystical Ninja, because of their MAJOR comparison to Mario 64 (What's new?). So let me get this straight though... Because it's a 3-D platform... It's exactly like Mario? WRONG, let's get a toilet right quick and flush that theory into it. I've played both Mario 64 and Mystical Ninja. When I played Mystical Ninja, never ONCE did Mario cross my mind in comparisons. Anyhow, Gamespot really should get it's act together, because comparing games with other games if they don't have too many similarities is quite lame. Video games are almost always derived off other games, that's how it works. Also, they should really think "How was this game for this system?" not "This is on Wii Virtual Console, it doesn't meet up to the standards of today or systems that didn't exist for it's time." That's all I have to say...
