I don't use this site much anymore

So if anyone tries to contact me or something and I don't respond it's nothing against you personally. I just kind of gave up on Gamespot after Jeff and the others left. Go check out their new website Giantbomb.com if you haven't already.

Ha Ha Talk About A Mixed Bag . . .

So I finally get the new computer that I've been saving up forever for, and not only that but I ended up getting way more stuff than I expected. I was able to get a Quad Core proc instead of a dual core, 750 watt power supply instead of 500, and an awesome case that is way nicer than the one I was originally going with. Then my parents went out and got me a 22" widescreen HD moniter and Guitar Hero 3 finally comes out, and I get it the day it comes out. Sounds like life doesn't get much better eh?

Then it happened. I got home to play GH3 on my 360 and lo and behold, the Red Ring of Death. I couldn't turn it on at all, it just went straight to it. I'd been waiting soooo long to play it and the minute I get home my 360 craps out. This could possibly have been timed worse, too, because Mass Effect (my most anticipated game of the year, or ever until KotOR3), CoD4, the Orange Box, and Assassin's Creed were coming out right when I my 360 is being repaired. But Ihad Crysis to look forward to, right? Wrong, it got delayed a week ago until mid November.

A few weeks later I'm feeling a little bit better, but its still pretty mixed. Crysis has come out and it has rocked my socks off, but I (along with everyone else) can't play it at Very High at the native resolution of 1680x1250 resolution on my 22" moniter. I got Super Mario Galaxy for my Wii, expecting it to be mediocre and finding it to be the most amazing platformer I've ever played. I still don't have a 360. My friends are flying ahead of me in rank in Halo 3. I got to play Guitar Hero 3 for a few tantalizing hours when I had my friend bring his 360 over, but now I want to play even more. And worst of all, I CANT F*CKING PLAY MASS EFFECT!!! I've been staring at every screenshot and video of it for the past year and now my firends will have beat it before I get to touch it. I also cant play Assassin's Creed, though I'm still awaiting my best friend's approval before getting it (it got mixed reviews and I'm running very low on cash).

I. Am. Screwed.

I can't believe how much money I'm going to have to spend on gaming this year.

  • I'm spending $1,600 on a new computer (only $300 left!)
  • I have EVERY console, so I'm going to be buying a million games this year.

This year my dad said he'd get me Guitar Hero III for free (long story, I'll explain later), and my sister is getting Rock band for her B-Day (mid Dec), so the two most expensive games I want are, thankfully, the two I won't be buying with my own money. Past that, the following are the games I'll be getting and the games that I really want but probably can't get because there aretoo damn many.

Multi Platform Games:

I'm definitely getting Assassin's Creed and Grand Theft Auto IV. No question about it. After I've bought all of my MUST HAVE games, I'll only getthe others that I really, really want. That is,if I have enough (or any) cash left over. Those games would be John Woo Presents Stranglehold, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, The Orange Box, Army of Two, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, and Burnout Paradise.

Xbox 360:

I'm going to have to get Halo 3, obviously. After that I'm getting Mass Effect for sure. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is my favorite game of all time, and Mass Effect is made by the same people, has a similar setting, plays similarly, it's F***ING HUGE (find a video of the galaxy map on Youtube, it looks like there's roughly 200 planets), it has gorgeous graphics, and a really, really interesting story (yes I've read the book, and I recommend it to anyone interested in the game). Lastly I'm going to get Bioshock and Beautiful Katamari. The only game I really want but will only get if I have the money for would be Lost Odyssey.

Nintendo Wii:

This one is really easy, for the Wii I want Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Mario Galaxy. I also might pick up Wii Fit, Manhunt 2, and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.

Playstation 3:

Heavenly Sword is one of my most anticipated games this year, right behind Halo 3 and Mass Effect. I love UT so I'm also going to get Unreal Tournament III (PC mods will own w00t!). Lastly I really want Lair, but I suspect it might not stand up to the hype, so I'm going to wait forthe reviews for it. Other than that, most of the PS3 games I want are coming out next year (ZOMG I want MGS4 so bad). I also might get Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Ratchet and Clank:Tools of Destruction, and Warhawk.

PC:

For the PC the only game that I absolutely HAVE to get would be Crysis. It looks amazing and it'll be the ultimate test for my new suped up computer. Besides thatI'm getting the Medieval Total War II: Kingdoms Expansion and I might get Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, UT3, and World in Conflict.

(My new computer specs: 8800 GTX, 2gb ram, Vista Premium, 500gb hard drive, 600 watt power supply, Intel dual core E6750 proc, and an Asus P5N32-E SLI nForceĀ® 680i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE-1394 Dual PCI-E MB motherboard all for $1,600, insane deal huh?).

Explanation Mentioned Earlier:

The reason why my dad is getting me Guitar Hero III for free is because a while ago, before Guitar Hero II for the 360 came out, my dad said he'd like to see me and my sister playing together nicely. I suggested Guitar Hero and my dad said he'd happily get me it with 2 guitars as long as I played with my sister. Then Guitar Hero II finally came out and it was a big hit. Unfortunately it wasso much so that my Dad and I couldn't find a second Guitar. Now that Guitar Hero III is coming out my dad said that instead of getting me another wired Guitar Hero II controller he'd just get me Guitar Hero III, to which I happily agreed. So yeah, that's why I'm getting GH3 for free =).

So there you have it, a million games that I want that will leave me broke from now until the end of next year. If you add the cost of all of my must have games, of which there are 14, the total is about $700. If you add that to the $1,600 for my new computer, I'm going to be spending a whopping $2,300 at the very least, and if I were to get every gameI want this year the cost sails to an insane $3,200.

That is why. . . . . I. AM. SCREWED.
