@Ikthog I'm the kind of MMO player that reads every quest and I absolutely love the fleshed out story of TSW. At first, and in my previous post, I mentioned the frustration I had due to not being able to load up on quests because you can only have 1 red quest, 3 blues, 1 purple, etc... but after playing more, I realized the point of this is because the quest hubs aren't really quest hubs. They purposely don't want you to treat them like traditional MMO towns/villages. They want it to play more like a single player game where you go out and experience the world and explore. Pick up other missions as you finish them, rather than running back to some hub.I have a friend who is a power gamer in MMOs. Doesn't read anything, just blows through the content to get to the "end game" and farm good gear. It was extremely frustrating to play with him. This is NOT the MMO to play if you're that kind of gamer. It's like a single-payer MMO, if that makes any sense. He complained for 30 mins that he didn't have the code for a quest until somebody in-game explained to him where to find it.I'm actually intrigued that a company finally is taking a chance with making people think about quests, but I fear people are going to hate that part because they have to go outside the game to figure puzzles out. Blizzard has actually stated that they do not want "mystery" quests in WoW because "people will just go look it up online anyway". I just hope TSW continues to craft quests that are a mystery because you have to think about them and not a mystery because you just don't know where the hell to go.
I played the beta for awhile today and I'm on the fence. I love the skill-focus, the amazing story telling (it plays like a single-player game), and the setting. My main issues are controls (strafing resets the camera), the quest system is cumbersome (makes you pause some quests to get others; inexplicably can't do some quests at the same time), and the models have serious collision issues. Also, loot is a little weird because it shows icons for loot on bodies you can't loot and if you can loot it, you have to right click each item... if you left click it, it attaches the item to your cursor. Frustrating. If the execution was cleaner, I would buy the $200 subscription, but I think Guild Wars 2 is going to stomp this game. I have not played the GW2 beta.
