It needs more Metroid :D... Okay fine; I think it lacks in both the fighting department and FPA's or FPS's First Person Adventures / Shooters (Games like Metroid)

I know everyone has his or her own opinion on this. Personally I don't think this generation comes close to being the best. The 360 didn't blow me away, the ps3 didn't either, while the Wii was...well the wii. Don't get me wrong, I own all 3 consoles and enjoy the games I do own. Yet I'm finding myself playing on the Super Nintendo, Game Cube, Dreamcast, and N64 and Genesis more. Also picking up a few PC games. I know I play the ps2 more than the ps3, and the only games I play on PS3 is Killzone 2 and Madden 2010. The wii, I only play Brawl, Metroid Prime Trilogy, or other Game Cube Games. As for the 360 there is a load of games I could play, but I pick the 90's consoles over them for the simple reason that back on the old games, you could dump 8-100 hours literally into a game and not be 100% complete just once. Now adays In 20 hours I can beat pretty much any game twice. Just seems like the older generation had harder games 1,) Super Nintendo / Genesis 2.) Game Cube / Xbox / Ps2 3.) Dreamcast / N64 / PS1 4.) Xbox 360 / Wii / PS3 And thats the Gens in order that I like.

New Super Mario bros is a great one, but I'm waiting for a new Kirby title. But yeah there are quite a few Platforming titles out there for the DS.

Just recently I purchased Metroid Prime: Trilogy and let me tell you. If you liked any of the primes, you need to get your hands on this disk. Upscaled graphics, physics, and the spring ball added in primes 1 and 2. Not to mention Prime 3 as a bonus. I have to say I've always loved Metroid, but this is just a little slice of heaven on a disk.

Well I'm glad you enjoyed it... Some body had to. I just didn't like it that much. I mean it was way to short and the game play with the sword just wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be. More like random slashing and swinging, nothing really original about it. Just a Sonic game trying to be a Zelda game from what I observed.

I've gotta say Juiced 2 and Dead or Alive 4. But the most over looked might be BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

[QUOTE="treedoor"]

Basically, I'm sticking to what I said because when I look at the Dreamcast's library I don't say "Wow the Dreamcast might as well not be memorable for Space Channel 5, or Skies of Arcadia because I can play those on other systems"

And that's just that really. The Dreamcast brought to light some magnificent franchises, and had the best versions of arcade games, and other various ports.

People look at the PS1 and see games like MGS, FF, and RE regardless of the fact that other systems had these games. The PS1 brought them to light, and the PS1 is where everyone's memories with those games lie. (in b4 FF was on Nintendo first because I KNOW).

Well, when I look at the Dreamcast, and see those games I listed I don't go looking for an excuse to downplay the Dreamcast's library, and that's why I'll forever think it's an amazing system. I like it more than the Xbox, GC, and PS2, but I actually thought the Xbox and Gamecube had the best multiplayer games of all last gen. I don't pirate my games either :cry:

Panzer_Zwei

It's still not the same, no matter how you try to slice it.

Metal Gear Solid wasn't on any other rival console on it's generation, same with FFVII,VIII,IX so none of what you're saying applies.

It would've made a world of difference if Chrono Trigger had been released for the Mega Drive (a direct rival console) than when it was released for the Playstation and the Nintendo DS. You wouldn't had needed a SFC to play the game "on it's time" and that's a world of difference. Same if MGS had been released for the SS and N64. Owners of those system wouldn't had needed to buy a PS to play the game,.

However games like Eternal Arcadia, Special Channel 5, Bio Hazard: Code Veronica, and nearly half the DC library are available on other consoles of the same generation. So many consumers never needed to buy a Dreamcast to play them. And since you're probably most likely unaware, games like REZ and Space Channel 5 Part 2 weren't even exclusive to the Dreamcast to begin with. They were multi-plats, with both the DC and PS2 verisions released the same day. And guess what? They were better on the PS2.

I figured I'd just jump in here and say this really quickly. You have a point about a lot of DC games being on the PS or another rival console of that generation. Although games like Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Shenmue, Shenmue 2, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Demolition Racer: No Exit version, Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2. All DC exclusives and yeah I know this is personal opinion but, I loved these games a lot more than the vast majority of the PS and N64 games. During that generation if I made a top 25 list. I'd think 17 of them would be DC games. Yeah I know the PS had some great stuff out there and I think it's a great system. Just that their games just didn't sit with me that much. Resident Evil: Code Veronica was on the DC not as an exclusive but, didn't need to fetch a PS to play it. Yeah I do understand the PS1 is a good console but I like the DC better. When you said the PS2 version of Space channel 5 part 2 and REZ were better, I find that to be a dead given since the ps2 is classed as a gen later. Seeing as how it was with the Xbox and Game Cube. So seeing how the out of date Dreamcast paled in comparison to the specs of the PS2 it'd be a shame if those games weren't better than their DC counter parts. Over all I liked all the consoles since the SNES, minus the Sega Saturn, but yeah that's just my little response to it.

The Dreamcast I'd have to say is one of my favorite consoles; That's saying quite a lot due to the fact that it is one of the few consoles to just die in mid stride. I've had the pleasure to play Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Both of those games on their own could have carried the Dreamcast; However there were many precious gems out there that have been over looked by gamers all over. Jet Grind Radio which had one of the most original concepts at the time, In which Teens on skates went around spraying graffiti on every surface to get the attention of a Mafia like group who only wanted to oppress the streets. The teens gave the city hope that maybe the soul and freedom of the street would one day return. Illbleed also had a some what original concept and pulled it off nicely. There were many other great games such as Power Stone, Dead Or Alive 2, Shenmue, Test Drive 6, Sonic Shuffle, Demolition Racer: No Exit, and really the list could go on at this point. In any case long live the Dreamcast. 9/9/99 - The greatest day in the lives of Sega fans across the globe!

The only reason this is under Legacy Platforms is because the last SEGA console was the Dreamcast which was back in the period of the Playstation, N64, and before the Xbox.

How would the other big main console makers be effected if SEGA came back with a new console of their own? Personally I don't think there would be much of a difference for Nintendo or Microsoft, but seeing as how the PS3 is currently on the bottom of the sales list. The Imaginary SEGA console could divide the attention from the PS3, or 4 (When it comes out) and all the other consoles. Nintendo would get shaken up seeing as how a lot of SEGA's characters are over on Nintendo made consoles now. Don't look at this too much in a logical sense seeing as how this is just a "What if" thread. So It's just a thought, what do you think?
