Yep, thats true. And its smart to try not to compete for xbox live time against halo. Its just smart. Just making a game of Halo quality (which is hard in itself) is not enough.
Well, 'cause with halo quality no longer enters the equation. Millions of lems will spend $60 in a shooter in september... and guess which one they're more likely to pick, even if it isn't up to the quality (not saying it isn't) of the others.
I don't think they fear Halo the game, they fear Halo the seller.

[QUOTE="MorisUkunRasik"][QUOTE="Whiteknight19"]actually its Halo trying to Keep up with Killzone 2 on the graphics department and the physics departmentGloverD
too bad Halo 3 will be out this year and KZ will be out sometime in the second half of next year.
Actually February .. learn to readAnd it'll be every bit as good as the first one :P
This is the first sequel thats generating so much hype, inspite of the original was such an underwhelming game
Cover up?
Its common sense. Why take on a giant? when you dont have to. I agree with Epic about the mods, but what i'm saying is, thats not the reason for the delay/ps exclusive. Its cause they dont want to go against Halo, cause its the smart thing to do.
The mod business, i'm actually with microsoft, cause they want to certify everything that goes through their network. Sony is going to allow everything, and that opens a whole can of worms.
[QUOTE="SilverArrows"]You have no clue what i'm saying. MSFT has no problems allowing extra content, and they will host it on Xblive. As will PSN. The issue is, to allow content, that users can download from their PC and copy it over to their console. MSFT wont allow that. Sony will. Expect some suer created stuff for the 360 version of the game, maybe some DLC
You dont even understand the implications of user created mods, so why dont you just stop talking.
[QUOTE="Not-A-Stalker"]Wrong. Don't try to spin this. Microsoft won't let mods on the 360, and Epic has decided to delay the game. Mark Rein (or was is Jeff Morris?) is quoted as saying "We haven't done a lot of recent development on the 360." Don't expect extra maps and all the usual extra stuff. Until Microsoft lets up, Lemmings won't be playing UT3 on their 360's for a while.Not-A-Stalker
My comment on the extra content was directed to the blind Lemmings who think their version of UT3 will come with extra maps and extra content.
I fully understand what is going on. Microsoft won't let user created mods. Don't tell me what I understand and what I don't. I know what's going on, and I'm not trying to cover it up by saying "bu they want to avoid teh Halo!"
I think UT is a PC game. I loved 2004, its still my best online FPS (ahead of halo as well).
I think the PS3 version, with its openess will have some huge problems with security, cheating exploits.

You can say what you want about Halo, but it is expected to sell a lot, and as brave as Epic is, they are not stupid. They might make a better game than Halo, but they will lose out to Halo, and they dont want that to happen. Its not about which game is better, Its about which will sell more.
Better games dont always win, you should know that by now.
Im so sick of the 360 fanboys spouting off about how Halo 3 is going to be this earth shattering, end all, be all gaming experience. It make me sick to even own a 360 when I have to see this garbage posted day in and day out. Yes, I do own a 360...two in fact as well as two Wii's and a PS3, so I am the furthest thing from a fanboy!
Anyway, UT 3 is coming to PS3 and PC first simply because those versions will allow for user mods to be used and or downloaded. XBOX Live doesnt allow for such things, so it only makes sense! For those of you who think EPIC is afraid of Halo 3, you are smokin some serious stuff! Ive played the Halo 3 beta, seen the new E3 footage and to be perfectly honest, I am underwhelmed! It looks like Halo 2 in HD and nothing more! Bungie has gotten fat and lazy and it shows! Why is it that CoD 4, UT 3and Killzone2 all MASSACRE Halo 3 in the visuals department? You all seem to be forgetting one very important thing about the Halo franchise. It has never, ever faced any competition. The XBOX never had another FPS to go against Halo or Halo 2. Now, Halo 3 will be facing CoD 4, UT 3, MoH Airborne and Haze this holiday season! CoD 4 by itself will own Halo 3!!!!

[QUOTE="SilverArrows"]well avoiding Halo in september is a big thing everyone is doing. atleast on 360. everything that comes out in september is before Halo 3. Project gothem racing 4 is like 3 weeks before Halo. Bioshock and BLue Dragon a month before Halo. ME and probably LO in november. 2 months after Halo 3. GTA 4 is in october but GTA 4 can go head to head with Halo 3 on 360. im just saying avoiding Halo 3 has been alot of peoples goals on the 360.[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="Ibacai"]So you're saying Halo 3 is enough for this Christmas and UT3 is better for the 360 if it comes out next year? There is some reasoning behind that, we'll have to wait and see. And as for conspiracy theory, any proof to back it up? We really don't know, Epic could truly be having trouble with XBL because of free run mods unlike with PSN.jg4xchamp
Epic trouble with mods would probably be price. considering XBL is a more structered onlince service at this point with way more content and is backed by Microsoft completely. I think or atleast hope MS wises up and lets epic sell free content and free mods for download or something. because epic is pretty much loving sony right now.
I think you misuderstand the situation. Its not about "free" .... its about user created. For the PS3, to use a user created mod, all you have to do, is copy it on to your computer, put it on an SD card, and then on your PS3 .... and you can use a user created mod on UT3 on your ps3. You cannot do that on the 360.
Epic likes this, but as a closed platform, i'm happy the 360 doesn't allow this, cause don't be surprised if there is a worm or virus written for the PS3 specifically, and watch all hell break lose. If i want mods, i'll play it on the PC.
i know but those mods can become downloads on xbox live. popular pc and ps3 mods can become downloads. and i think thats a good thing. MS wouldnt be stupid enough to charge for them. also i think theres more to it than an SD card. because i believe so far XBL hasnt allowed any types of mods as well. it was on bonus round on how XBL has been stric with certain rules, regulations, and stuff. But i could easily see mods become a download pack or something.
Yes, but thats differnet than the SD card thing that the PS3 will allow. And thats Epic whole point. They dont want to involve MSFT or SOny. As a user, if you want something, either you just go online and get it, or even create it yourslef and share it. Puttin it in the store on PSN or XBL is not a solution as that involves getting certification from both companies.
I personally think allowing all user created content is dangerous, cause trust me, there will be some dude somewhere who thinks up how to write a worm in this, and that will be real bad
