Socom was a great game, but Socom 2 is a lot better. After playing Socom 1 for the first time I was a little disappointed with the regular game. Not to say that the voice through the mic was bad, I loved that, but the regular game was that of a typical navy game, where you have an elite team. When I got online for the first time, I really fell in love with the game. The online made the game what it was and Socom 2 kept that going. Socom 2's online is still superb, but they did mess up a few things on it. The killing got messed up in my opinion. Instead of taking one or two bullets to kill somebody it takes about five. I did like the addition if the health bar. I was very upset however that they messed up two of the greatest maps on socom 1 Abandoned and Rats Nest. They turned both maps dark which really just screwed things up.
