If your route to escapism is ambiance and exploration, I'd definitely recommend Oblivion, its graphics and soundtrack still make for one helluva trip. But if you want a story and fun killing things, you should probably go with The Witcher.

Oblivion is my most favorite game of all time because I don't like killing things, exploring dungeons and sneaking past traps and baddies to find unique loot is what makes that game shine for me. If you go with Oblivion don't use the 'Fast Travel' feature it takes so much away from the experience, and be sure to try various graphics and weather mods out for the game, then it will become sheer and utter escapism. I recall reading on another forum of someone saying that Oblivion is one of the few games where you can go virtual hiking with a decent experience. Climbing a hill and seeing the main city looming over the distance is just awesome, i totally agree with that guy.

But again if 'pew pew pew!' is more your thing as with the story, avoid oblivion you will not like it.

NWN's power is in it's toolset and multiplayer as others have said, to this day I'm still building my persistent module with my friend, the possiblities for inifinite adventures is really there unlike other games. Our website is http://sites.google.com/site/valikorlia1/ although the server is down and we're not currently hosting sessions, we're going to wait till we're back in the building and dming mood before putting it back up.

Join a persistent role-play world and you are almost guaranteed to have loads of fun.

That looked incredibly silly, you can't do scorpions "get over here" without looking over the top and silly. Jesus the stuff people are trying to make realistic these days.

You can very much enjoy left 4 dead without friends. Most of my friends have moved on but I still play the game on a daily basis, I would say advanced mode in the game probably has the best play experience, expert mode seems to be filled with alot of griefers who join the game just to shoot the whole team up. (friendly fire does alot more damage on expert mode). Griefers would sometimes keep joining the game under different aliases after you kick them just to harass you, so you can't tell if the person joining the game is a griefer or not.

Having a mic is useful but i wouldn't say crucial. I rarely use mines as I prefer to type.

60$ is a fortune of money for me and even though I love the first game I'm only interested in the campaign, I'll wait for a holiday deal.

Meh, don't like my family and my friends are just casuals. So no. It really sucks growing up you get the impression that you should have this disney-esque life, with close-knit friends and family, but I guess for some of us that's just fantasy.

Siofen: most conservatives these days are for smaller gov't.

Anyway, I really don't care who wins, as long as they have small gov't, less spending policies.

turtlethetaffer

Oops I mean republicans, big government conservative is more of an oxymoron. Most people wouldn't think so sadly.

[QUOTE="Siofen"]

It's a positive trend as long as the GOP continues to kick out big-government conservatives and neocons. It'll be nice to actually have a small government party for once. IF NY23 was any indication that the GOP is starting to put policy before party, I think america may be in for good times.

majwill24

I agree with that. A new dynamic is emerging in the republican party. A strong pro small government force is growing, similar to the christian right in the 90's that helped republicans gain control. Having a powerful fiscal conservative faction to counter the religious right could propel the republicans back to dominance

Well I don't think the religious faction of the GOP is the problem, I mean even in positions they were most vocal about, americans are mostly anti abortion nowadays. The only loosing issue i can think of is gay marriage which probably isn't that big a deal outside of single-issue voters.
