Reader Reviewers Ripped-Off

When I first heard about the new reviewing system, I was excited. It looked shiny, new, and, while I would miss the accuracy of my dear friends 7.3 and 8.8, it had medals. Oh how I adore medals. Anything that you can lord over your friends, I’m interested in. That’s why I like emblems. They show what you’ve done; same thing with Achievement Points on the Xbox 360. These medals looked like a cool, easy way to see the good things about a game or the bad. Needless to say, I was pretty pumped to be able to use this awesome system in my own reviews. Until…
In terms of the scoring, all reader reviews will use the new system, sans medals. Medals will not factor into reader reviews, but the scoring increments will adjust along with the new system. Any old reviews you've written will maintain the old scoring formula, UNLESS you try to edit it, at which point you'll have to adjust it to the new scores.AlexN
Okay, now I’m a little irritated. Accurate reviews were what drew me to GameSpot in the first place. Now they’ve taken away one level of accuracy and make users give the game a rating with no helpful categories to really explain why. I figured being able to use medals in reviews would make up for this…whoops, sorry, those aren’t for you guys. It used to be that you could use the reviewing system equal to what the “pros” (I call them pros because hey, they get paid for reviewing stuff) used. Now, we’re forced to make due with a system with (in my opinion) the coolest feature ripped out. I’m a big fan of the new system and I would love to have full access to all of its features. I’m sure there are many others who feel the same as I do. Hopefully, GameSpot will hear our pleas and give us at least a couple shiny medals to play around with.
