Well, that's a first

Tonight marks the first night I have been able to run Crysis and Crysis: Warheaad completely maxed out with a great frame rate. First, the Red Raiders beat Michigan State at the Alamo Bowl (and we had seats on ground level :D ), now I get to feast my eyes on the best-looking PC game out there. Great weekend!

I can't wait to get back to my apartment in Lubbock

Red Raiders!

System is complete

It's done! I ended up with an AMD Phenom II X4 945 (3.0Ghz), 6gb of Patriot DDR3 RAM, Razer Death Adder and Lycosa Keyboard, 18.5 inch HD monitor, and a Radeon HD 4850 1gb.

It's my baby! I plan on sticking another video card in there later (along with a slightly bigger power supply). I was thinking about maybe even putting in two GTX 275 cards. Your thoughts?

:D

Fry's!

So, after talking to Fry's, I'm impressed. They will build a custom system from the ground up for hte cost of parts, windows 7, and $60. This isn't 60 dollars per hour, just a flat rate. I love it. Now, I have to convince my dad, who thinks all I'm going to do is game (which isn't "entirely" true  ) to let me have my system built for Christmas. Thanks to you guys in the hardware forums, I think I'm going AMD X4 955 with 4 gb of ram, and an HD 5850 in a thermaltake case.

Computer Update

Well, it seems like my dad doesn't mind giving me a $1000 budget for a computer, but he won't let me build it myself. Weird! I have built two systems in the past. Problem is, he never used them :P So, instead of getting beaten over by high prices from prebuild companies, I think I'm going to ask him to let me have one custom built at Fry's or MicroCenter. That way, I get the good parts I want, and he gets the warranty he wants. Will update once I get confirmation from him.
