[QUOTE="Mordred19"]yes, but if the Cell helps to render dx10-quality visuals, it's not going to have ANY resources left over for AI or physics.

The IBM Cell Processor only needs 3 SPEs to out perform the G80 in Floating Point Calculations / Second (FLOPS). Developers can use the other 5 for AI, physics, etc.
And remember, this is the Cell alone. The RSX isn't being used.

But you just said this.... where's your chart to prove your statement? First you say the Cell doubles the g80 in GFLOPS now your sayin oh no its made for ray-tracing?
While your at it why don't you go ahead and link me to the folding@home site that says the PS3 is contributing the most.
Because i can link you to the offcial donor list for Folding@home and i dont see ps3 near the top.

[QUOTE="Velocitas8"]I clicked that blog link and immediately burst out laughing.

lol! nice. i didnt believe it when i saw it. but look at this video of the cell doing 3d renderings all by itself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehwFOM4CBKA
Way to ignore the post i just made about how Horrowhip proved you wrong. And how Folding@home and SETI@home have both been on hte PC for years. Not to mention groups of PC users are the biggest contributors to them.

I thought we were talking about the CELL.
The PS3 has done more important things than just play video games. The PS3 is helping Stanford University simulate protein folding to cure serious diseases like cancer. Please help the people suffering form diseases related to mis-foldings in proteins.
Thanks to the CELL and RSX, the PS3 alone made stanford reach the PETAFLOP (over 1000 TERAFLOPS) scale and put this project a major step forward. Please run Folding@Home on your PS3 when you can.
You can also get a cool sig like mine that shows your folding stats.
Riiiiight because SETI@home and Folding@home havent been on the pc for years? Yes yes, its all the ps3.
Oh What about that chart horrowwhip posted earlier that proved you wrong about the GFLOPS? We'll just ignore that, that's not relevent here
Uhh, I'm not the OP, that was parody. Here's what the OP said on page 2.
[QUOTE="cobrax75"]a 720p TV runs on the resolution of 1280 by 720....my monitor has a resolution of 1680 by 1050....notice how that is higher.iMacBot
That's the point of my topic: the 720 is HD, the 1050 is not... Microsoft and Toshiba explained everything when they released their HD-DVD technology, please you guys... anyways good night.
M$ and Toshba sayed that when i played half-life in 1998 at 1600x1200 resolution IT WAsNT HD!!! LOL!?BEcause REAL hD is 1280x720!!?! LOL!!!!
Dont you get it? less pixels means BETTER! MS SAYED SO! L! O! L!!!!!
You guyz Arnt calKulating the MEGAHURTZ RITE!
LOL
PS: You can't beat stupid with worthless information and fact.
The only way to defeat stupid is with MORE, and BIGGER stupid!!
Personally i found Co-op to be easily the best part, playing with a friend screaming like a retard was fun as hell.
However, IN MY OPINION, small maps and 4 guns make for boring deathmatch/team deathmatch play.
I don't understand how people could play MP for more than a week.
Both games are pretty much deathmatch, team deathmatch or CTF, although it seems like Team Deathmatch is all thats played.
How is this fun? You play the same small maps over and over using the same guns running around shooting people for no good reason other than to get your score up.
Gears Single Player was way more entertaining and kept my attention for way longer than the MP.
I played mostly PC games before i got My 360 and compared to a game like RedOrchestra ( or others like BF1942/DOD/DODS/Half-Life DM, Even CS/CSS) these games are terrible. Atleast in the PC games you can have many User Created maps, multiple guns that are usefull, objectives and dedicated servers.
The graphics on RedOrchestra are terrible and its based on a Very old engine, but its got tonnes more atmosphere and immersion than GeOW and Halo. And frankly, i find it way more fun and engaging.
What do you people see in these games to be able to play the MP for so long and still enjoy it?
