Portal!

Dozens and dozens of memorable (funny) quotes, as well as just plain hilarious moments throughout the game.

(Watching my fiancee --- and then my cousin and brother-in-law --- play the game was also pretty hilarious)

The Witcher has its moments, but I would go so far as to say that Portal is the funniest game I've ever played. It's certainly made me laugh out loud more often than any other.

World In Conflict - no contest.

What a joke! A strategy game that involves next to no strategy?

Crysis and Bioshock are both incredible games in their own right, so I don't think they deserve to be labelled in this thread.

In no particular order:

1. Starcraft

2. Half Life 2

3. Need For Speed 2 or Most Wanted --- or Lemmings

4. Crysis (haven't finished it yet, but I'm hoping I don't change my opinion of it)

5. Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (or Soulstorm, when it comes out)

Impossible Creatures really encourages turtling (or so I found)

Starcraft II is likely to encourage a certain level of turtling against the enemy AI, but certainly not against other human players.

CnC: Generals & Zero Hour were very turtle-based. The fact that you can get income just by building depots inside your main base means it's hardly ever necessary to venture out of your safe-haven.

Similar to Generals/Zero Hour, you could check out Act of War (and its expansions).

If turtling is what you want, stay away from most of Relic's games...Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, and even the Homeworld series.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War: Dark Crusade

IT NEVER GETS OLD!

nic4games

Especially because whenever it starts to get "out-of-date", so to speak, Relic/THQ release a new expansion for it :)

1) What is your age?

19. I first starting gaming (more than your Minesweeper or Solitaire games) when I was about 12 with the EA game Cricket '96, which to this day I hold as the one game I had the most fun with.

2) Is your association with pc-games rather positive or negative? In other words, would you consider yourself to be a pc-game enthusiast or a non-gamer?

As an avid gamer, I would clearly be positive, although I understand that there are many negative aspects to the addiction/hobby.

3) If you play games, what type of game genre do you prefer?

My favourite genre is RTS gaming, followed closely by non-simulation Racing games (i.e. Flatout 2, but not Gran Turismo).

A good FPS (or Third-person shooter --- read: Rogue Trooper was a favourite of mine) will always rank very highly with me, but RPGs are my pet hate.

Simulation games (The Sims, Sim City, Flight Sims, etc.) make up my least favourite genre.

4) Name 6 adjectives that come into your mind when you think of computer games.

Fun
Evolving
Time-Consuming
Underappreciated
Educational (or at least Skill-Developing)
Varietous

I don't like demos.

Although any Crysis news is good news, I'm one of very few people (or so it seems) who don't ever try game demos.

My internet connection at home is not particularly fast, and downloading 1-3GB for demos that only contain an hour of gameplay just doesn't seem worth it to me.

I would love to see this game on my new 22" monitor, because I haven't really played any games that have made good use of it, but I just can't afford the huge download.

That said, I would love to see a couple of youtube videos of it...no doubt I'll check some of those out before I buy Crysis.

------- eagerly awaiting November 15 - comes out early here in Australia. Love it! -------

And try posting this in a different forum.

I have tried to use FRAPS before, myself, and came across the same problem. I never resolved the issue...I didn't care too much.

Oh dear god say it aint true?

How the hell could Bioware allow EA to buy them?????

This sucks, Bioware will turn into Obsidian...

1005

Lol...maybe because EA offered them more than $800 million! I think I would've taken the money too!

We can always hope that EA buying Bioware won't result in them making crappy, unfinished, rehashed, underdeveloped games......but if EA has anything to do with it, that's all we will get.

Make a stand, Bioware! Make sure games get made the way YOU want them to!

Give the guy a break, obviously he didn't realize that this was old news.

My appreciation goes out to you, raf4000...I hadn't heard about Far Cry being free at all.
I already own the game, but was thinking about getting it for my fiancee, so this'll make my mind.

Thanks for the post.
