After Sega Sports and Visual Concepts huge success with ESPN NFL 2k5, EA has put a stranglehold on the future success of the franchise, if there is another game. The giant company-consuming corporation that is Electronic Arts, has now achieved exclusive rights to the NFL license for the next five years. Which means if Sega and VC were to make a football next year, it cant have anything to do with the players, teams, stadiums, or anyhting else related to the NFL. Remember back in the days when sports games had made up teams and made up players? Well thats how it would be for ESPN NFL 2k series for the next five years. I am positive barely anyone will buy a football game without official teams and players.
It seems that Sega Sports was just about to catch and or pass EA in the war for football supremacy, but now has no hope. EA has monopolized the market for foorball games, a move which would make Bill Gates proud.
It seems that your only choices for football games next year will be a new NFL Street, NCAA Football 2006, and Madden 2006, all EA titles.
