Leeds reach the final

Before this game Leeds only needed to win two more games and they would be back where they belong; in the Premiership. After a tense first half, the score remained level and Leeds had managed to frustrate Preston, but showed little attacking intent. When half time came, the floodlights went out as a result of a power cut. This delayed the match by fifteen minutes, but Leeds had no trouble getting started. Ten minutes after the restart, Leeds took the lead, and deservedly so. Leeds dominated the start of the second half, and created more chances in five minutes than they did in the whole of the first half. The Preston crowd, who had been very confident before the game, were silenced as they saw Rob Hulse rise above everyone else to head the ball in from a corner. Only five minutes later, Leeds had doubled their advantage, thanks to more excellent work from Hulse. He managed to find Richardson unmarked at the far post, who controlled the ball before placing it into the net. Despite being reduced to nine men before the final whistle, Leeds managed to hang on for a 3-1 win on aggregate. Leeds are now in the playoff finals, and only need to win one more match before they are back in the Premiership.
