What I can't understand is why the PC is the LARGEST PLATFORM by far and biggest installed base and is not getting full attention on innovation and quality?

Why, yes it is. Nothing bad has befallen PC gaming. The PC has just been a gaming platform since before time, and as such, it has a huge catalogue of games. Consoles have a fresh start with every launch -- new games aren't competing with older ones for the all-time top spot. I don't feel that the scores of newer PC titles are anything to scoff at, anyway.
If you look in the Playstation 2 top games of all time, I doubt any current / many near-future Playstation 3 titles would hold their own against most of those titles. Most of which are dating back to 2001, the early Playstation 2 years.Despite all of that, I [think I] read somewhere, in Gamespot's help section, that an older game's rating out of ten is less than that of a modern day rating out of ten -- so I suppose it is kind of odd that the older games with higher scores out rank newer games in the 9s....
I'm more disapponited with the fact that in the all-time top games, all platforms, not one single PC game is featured. Which is rather odd, considering that System Shock 2 and Deus Ex are the best games ever created. ;)
