Ever since SSF4 I havent been into the gaming mood. then I started a 2nd job and barely have free time and now barely play my ps3. i got red dead redemption but i havent gone on after the introduction. im losing it man. im only 23, ive been gaming since i was 5 very regularly. and I know gaming has its droughts from time to time but i just cant seem to get back into it. i would always, every single day turn on my ps3 be it to play the newest demos, or newest games, or to just get some rounds in on street fighter (hd remix or ssf4) but now i could care less and even considered selling my ps3. my friggin baby! i customized it so nicely, so much media on there, nice backgrounds and 320 gigs of space.

ARGH. anyone been through this and went back to gaming? i fear i may just stick with mobile gaming since it seems to fit my lifestyle better. this is horrible

DangerHiVoltage

I went through many phases like this one. I've been gaming since I was 4, but never in that time was I an extreme gamer, more like an on and off gamer. I bought UFC Undisputed 2010(more because of my MMA obsession than gaming obsession though)recently but before that I hadn't bought a game in 5 or so months. I'm sure at the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 I'll be gaming like crazy because of all the great releases I've seen in E3 though. My advice is to not sell your ps3, your interest will probably be back sometime and you'll be very glad your ps3 is still there.

Had 2 days off and played the game for hours. I now have a record of 25 wins with 12 losses. Not bad, my 2009 record was much better but hey, I know I've been hasty to try ranked too quickly this time.

To find a player online I'm purposely making my prferenes so that no player is found and I create my own session. Much faster this way. Waiting for people to join is much easier than having to go through countless screens saying 'No Session Found' or 'Session No Longer Available'.

I'm not so disappointed anymore. Only thing I'm REALLY REALLY pissed off at now is the fact that someone disconnected on me and it shows that I disconnected not him. I never disconnect, I'd prefer a loss over a DNF percentage in my profile any time.

I believe someone mentioned how hard it is to keep the fight standing up and they were right. I don't have a bad ground game but I'd like to keep the fight standing up once in a while.

I can't seem to find a way to do the special BJJ specialists reversals from 2009 and I know they're in 2010 since I met two players using Anderson and Maia who tried to do it to me. It's probably explained in career mode but who'd want to go that far to learn it? :?

Fights online always go to the ground too haha. It's so easy to take people down it's not even funny. Also, that "Kay. Tee. Eff. Oh!" trophy is like, hard to get. Is it glitched? I'm disappointed that they decided to put Kendall Grove in the game instead of the person who beat him, 8-1 Mark Munoz lol. Leg kicks need to have more effect in the game as they are one of the most overlooked tactic in MMA. Leg kicks hurt.

IntenseJohn

That same trophy was in 09. You just have to wait until you get it accidentally like I did. Leg kicks are DEFINATELY underrated. They're an important part of mma as Shogun has proven when he made machida look like a drunk ballerina in their first match(that he was supposed to win :P)

Hey, this is about the unexplained control scheme...since you sound quite like an expert, I was wondering if you knew how to 'submit' other people. I've managed to isolate their limbs but so far have been unable to use a submission lock. I am currently spinning my palm on the right analog stick and my character is Machida :P

This is not really spot-on the topic, but I really need some help please!

bobbleheadrogue

man I hate machida x)... you need to spin like crazy but if it still doesn't work it's probably because your opponent's stamina is still good. Use stamina bars(enable them from your options). To reduce stamina permanently your best bet is to hit on the stomach and if your opponent is restless then his stamina will temporarily go down and you should swiftly take the chance. Go for the submission when your opponent's stamina level is red preferrable when your stamina is green. You'll obviously be more successful with good submission artists and you'll find it difficult to submit fighters with good submission defence. Hope this helped.

Before I got this game I wouldn't stop visiting its videos over and over again and I must've written tens of comments, I was THAT excited. Now that my copy arrived from ebay 2 days ago and I got a chance to play it yesterday(I bought the online IMMEDIATELY) I realized that it's just one whole disc of disappointments.

- If you manage to find someone to fight online within your first 30 tries, then it's your lucky day kid.

- Out of the 8 matches I managed to get online I only had one without lag. My opponent was really bad but I prolonged the fight for 3 rounds to cherish the lagless moment.

- The controls aren't nearly totally explained in the tutorial... hell, they're not nearly half explained in the tutorial. I can't figure out how to do A LOT of things and I got the platinum from UFC 2009.

- Ultimate Fights mode is too damn hard in many cases. Whereas in 2009 you'd have to beat the opponent with a certain move at a certain round as tops difficulty, this time you have 3 pages of listed things you have to do for every fight(almost)and most of them are not obvious. I know 2009's were too easy but they took it from one extreme to another. You can't choose the difficulty either and I think your opponent is somewhere in the lines of Advanced.

- I know it's more realistic this way but fighters like Royce Gracie are too good at submissions, and fighters like GSP are too good at takedowns. Sometimes I wonder what I could have done against these fighters to not get submitted when I have full stamina or not get taken down when I turn the right analog stick like crazy.

- Fights end too quickly now I think. Fighters' chins in 2010 are like glass chins compared to 2009's.

- Online glitches... enough said.

These are the ones I could remember from the top of my head, I've turned the game off hours ago and don't feel like playing again, I'm sure I encountered more than this. I am yet to try some modes but I already heard a lot of criticism about them too so I'm not looking forward. I haven't played it as much as I know some of you guys have so maybe you can correct me somewhere. I wish I bought a different game with my limited budget.

I plan on buying a mic in the future when I get a good job. In the mean time I'm barely making enough money to buy a game every 2-3 months with my collegestipend(gaming isn't my #1 wallet drainer)and I'd prefer to save the money I make this summer for a car. When it comes between buying a mic and buying a game I always choose a game -->buying a mic = not buying a game for 2-3 months. And you shouldn't blame people for not having mics, I personally ALWAYS turn mics option off before every online match because of all the multi-language and music chaos, the only reason I'd want a mic is for co-op with people I KNOW which isn'ta common thing.

Now do you perhaps understand a little why a lot of people don't have mics?

lool, not that simple dude. There aren't much girls in the gaming community(relatively) and they wouldn't partner up with people who are asking for girl partners online. I'm not into COD, but when you say partner in leveling up I imagine a lot of patience and cooperation, and you won't find that in a total stranger, with time you'll make gamer friends online, I ended up having a group of gamers I dunno socially in my msn contact list and wasn't even looking for any, and most of them now talk to me about things other than gaming and helped me do some things online like you need too... so yeah, if you're looking for strangers to help you online the ones who'll accept are the ones who are searching to level up as well so your options are already limited, why limit them even more? and in the long run you'll partner up with girl gamers too I guarantee and it won't makea difference unless you want a girl to be sheva/chloe/elena........ sorry for the essay :P

I know Konami is busy making Peace Walker and MG Rising but would you guys purchase a new MGS4 if it had these features:

  1. Theatre mode.
  2. 1 big install in the beginning and that's it.
  3. Boss fight mode.
  4. New scenes.
  5. Original Kojima vision ending.
  6. ....extra little Kojima tidbits.

I don't know about you guys but I reckon Kojima Productions should do another MGS4 like they did with MGS2 substance and MGS3 subsistence.

Anyone agree ?

I would jump for joy if it gets announced at E3 for a late 2010 release :D

Swift_Boss_A

you had me at new scenes... they'd never do that though
