Since 2008 is now over, I decided to make a list of my top 10 songs from 2008. I'm pretty sure that Lizz knows some of these, but you might wanna check out the rest.
Honorable Mention
"Love Story"- Taylor Swift: This was a great song, but not good enough to get into my top 10. It does tend to get a little old after hearing it for a while
"You're Gonna Miss This"- Trace Adkins: Unfortunately this song didn't make the list either. This was GAC's #1 video of the year (Although it should've been Carrie). It talks about how even though things may not be exactly perfect, when you look back on it, you'll miss it. Wonderful song!
"Another Try"- Josh Turner: If you like singers with really low voices, you'll love Josh Turner. He's one of my favorite artists and he was great in concert. This is kind of a depressing love song, but very good.
10) "I Saw God Today"- George Strait: I'm normally not a big George Strait fan, but when i heard this song, i was amazed. This is a song that any Christian would love!
9) "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"- Darius Rucker: Who would have thought that a former member of Hootie and the Blowfish would make a country album? Not to mention a successful one. This song easily makes him the most successful crossover artist this year. This song is about walking away from someone you loved, but thinking about what might've happened if you hadn't.
8.) "Last Name"- Carrie Underwood: I know everyone's shocked that i would put a Carrie song on here lol. The song is really fun and has a great country feel to it. The only reason that it's not higher is because it got too overplayed. For those who don't know, it's about drinking too much and hooking up with a guy that you don't know anything about.
7) "Lookin For a Good Time"- Lady Antebellum: I have a feeling you'll hear more about Lady Antebellum really soon. This is the kinda song that will put you in a great mood. You go out on the town, meet someone, but you're not looking for anything serious. You're just looking for a good time!
6) "All-American Girl"- Carrie Underwood: It so happens that this song is one of Carrie's most well done music videos. If you haven't seen the video, just look at my banner! In concert, Carrie always pulls a little girl out of the audience to sing it with her. Carrie's amazing voice makes this cute song simply irresistable.
5) "That Song In My Head"- Julianne Hough: If there were ever a song that reflects its title, this would be it! I can't count how many days in a row i ended up singing this song at work. It was literally almost a week! And it's not just because she mentions a "blue eyed boy", which may or may not be me lol. Please, please, please be me :)
4) "I'm Still A Guy"- Brad Paisley: This is the ultimate guy song! Any real guy will love this song. Brad Paisley is known for his humorous and clever lyrics, but this is by far his humor at its best! This song claims that even though your girl will change you a little, you're still a guy. It also pokes fun at the feminine things that guys do now. My favorite line, "I don't highlight my hair, i've still got a pair" haha
3) "Waitin On A Woman"- Brad Paisley: In the last song i mentioned that it was Brad Paisley's humor at its best. This song is more clever and sentimental than anything. The song talks about all the ways that you end up waiting on a woman. But in the end, you don't mind waiting on a woman. This is one of my favorite Brad Paisley ballads and it was wonderfully put together.
2) "Just a Dream"- Carrie Underwood: This song is a little bit confusing at first. But once you put the pieces together, you'll be blown away. The only thing keeping this song from #1 is that it's so sad that you really don't wanna listen to it a ton. This is just one of those songs that you hear and go "WOW!" Carrie performed this at the CMA Awards and totally stole the show with this emotional song. The song is about a girl whose fiance has been overseas fighting in the war. She is so excited on her way to their wedding. Then you find out that it was all just a dream and that he died overseas and she is actually on her way to his funeral. The most powerful lyrics "They handed her a folded up flag and she held on to all she had left of him. The guards rang one last shot and it felt like a bullet in her heart." They give me chills every time. Put this incredible song together with Carrie's phenomenal vocals and it's amazing!
1) "Love Don't Live Here"- Lady Antebellum: A year ago, i was watching the CMA awards and i had no idea who this Lady Antebellum group was. Little did i know that i would end up owning their CD and falling in love with their music. Their contemporary sound is perfect without losing the traditional country sound. If they continue to put out songs like this, they will have a very very bright future! The lead singer has a very distinctive country type voice that you won't hear anywhere else. You know the saying "this song gets better every time i hear it"? I didn't think it was even possible. But after listening to this song all summer, i have yet to get even close to being sick of it. The song is about a girl coming back for her man after breaking his heart, but after everything she put him through, he tells her to leave. If the lyrics don't get you, the extremely catchy tune WILL!
