Hey all,
Just started a Dark Souls 3 sorcerer playthrough, most blind to everything. Enjoying it so far. Come check it out.
Check out some of the best moments and memories from the gaming world that had us enjoying ourselves in 2015.
Have been having massive fun with it. Made a quick vid of some goals. The first and fifth are my favourite so far. I'd recommend it.
Hey all, I've been having some fun with The Witcher 3, and I'll be making videos related to awesome moments that crop up in the game. I'll update this thread with sets of 3 vids everytime I make them. Some of these might entail spoilers, but mostly it's just for fun.
People can't get past hate, what's new? I never even finished the game, yet I know it had some quality.
At its peak, I felt the gameplay was better than Dark Souls 2 at its peak. Make of that what you will. Really glad I didn't listen and tried it out for myself. Story is an absolute waste and characters somehow manage to get worse as the series progresses, but as boring as the side-quests were, they were mostly better than some of the boring things done in DA: Inquisition. I tend to hate side-quests in general though.
I also find it weird so many people complain of the time element utilised. It wasn't that hard to overcome and at least gave some sense of urgency. It speaks volumes though of some of the 'reviewers'.
It's sad because it made one-on-one fights utilising turn-based ATB viable, instead of the usual shyte like what we got in FFIX. It would be a massive shame to not get more of it, preferably outside of FF13 or FF in general.
Is Dreamfall: Chapters a legit shout for GOTY? Even with just Book 1 and 6 hours of gameplay, that's one of my top contenders for GOTY.
I knew it! Damn, they did it again, they made Leliana best character again. **** now I have to replay the game. It's more vague than in DA:O. It killed me a little inside to see her character develop a certain way.
Overall, I'm very 50/50 on the game. The mutated M&KB controls with the impaired tactical view turned me off playing the game on hard or nightmare. So in general I don't have much of an opinion on the combat mechanics (aside from wishing there were more tactics for companions, something I think DA2 did fairly well).
I was happy with the main story for the most part, except for a few things. The main story is very human-centric. You don't interact with any other race group properly. Sure, you meet the token Qunari, Elf and Dwarf, but you don't get caught up in their culture like you did in DA:O for the majority of the game. At least you got a bit more from the Tevinter side. But I get that's more me wanting more story than was probably feasible. I wasn't particularly fond of the fact that your race doesn't really matter much either. I played a Qunari/Tal-Vashoth and well didn't really feel like it mattered outside of people always going 'Hey, the Inquisitor is a Qunari. ****.' What we did get from the main story I was generally okay with, not entirely thrilling and I couldn't really connect with the Inquisitor like I could with the Hero of Ferelden or Hawke, but taken at face value, it holds up.
I do wish Bioware would deviate from the standard companion quest and story-telling though. It's a bit too over-used now. I ended up not really caring much for the companions outside of Solas, who grew on me, and to a lesser degree, Cole.
I have no fond memories of the side-quests though. Like, I'm not sure there were any really memorable ones. Helping people felt soulless, which is what made me recall Skyrim. Fetching things was tedious too. Oh wait, no wait, 1 side-quest was great. The Sutherland side-quest was great. Other than that though, nothing stands out. It wasn't that elements weren't there, it's that the presentation of these side-quests were dull.
Do I have 10 games to list?
1. MGSV: TPP (I haven't even played GZ, but my hype level is high. Glad it's coming to PC)
2. RE: Rev 2 (The return of Claire? Hell yea)
3. Dreamfall Chapters (This is iffy, since Book One just released, but the rest will release next year. It was super good)
4. Tomb Raider 2 (But only if we get a PC version. Not gonna fork out for a console for 1 game. You don't know how disappointed I was at that exclusive announcement)
5. Bloodborne (Will have to get a PS4)
6. FFXV (Would be higher if we had a release date. Also, part of me feels like it might be rushed. Might also need a PS4 unless PC magic happens)
7. Uncharted 4 (again, ps4)
8. The Witcher 3 (It looks good and all, but the series has always just never quite lived up fully to me)
9. FF Type-0 HD (Will also need to get a ps4, haven't seen a PC listing)
10. Rime (Looks sweet. Also, ps4. Might as well since I'll likely have one by then)
I'd probably try something like Star Citizen out just to see it in action. Can't say I've kept in touch about it much. Same deal with Pillars of Eternity, although I don't particularly care for top-down ARPGs.
While I've come to hate Atlus' story-telling, I may get Persona 5 because it should be a turn-base RPG (it would be awesome if the combat was innovative). There'd have to be nothing else worth playing though to make me get it. Plus it's on PS3 right, so I can play it. I'd get Xenoblade CX, but I just don't care to get a Wii U. Also, the HUD at times looks annoying.
So yea, I had 10 games. Cool. Might have forgotten some too. Also, the ranking will probably change around on a whim.
Eh, I dunno, we'll have to wait and see. The reason it works in most western RPGs is because you get to choose your playstyle (tank, rogue, magic or so on). Even in The Witcher you had options (though I think sword fighting was still most important). Noctis (who I assume you control), looks set as a character, which may limit options too much. Even KH has options (not sure how good it is though).
Thing is, it might have been cool being able to use the gunner for instance, for variety sake. I do feel like the game is being rushed though, amazing as that sounds, given that so many alterations have been going on and now SE seem hurried about getting a new FF game out there. We'll see I guess.
Heard there's going to be 2 females and a Male Main leads in this one, with "Two that haven’t been seen in over a decade and one has never had an “in-game” appearance."
I'm calling it.
Resident Evil Zero 2
Uh....Alice?
I don't think nintendo will attempt to target the core gamer with their next console initially. They tried a bit to hard with the WiiU intially to get more core gamers to buy the console I think the best way for nintendo to build a market in the console market is to mostly go after demographics that the console market usually does not appeal to like young women.
Is that something fans want? Ninty fans I mean. If they can sustain themselves, more power. I don't think that would persuade me at all though.
This is actually a very well reasoned and thought out post, so kudos!
I think you might actually have the right idea here- Nintendo can try to put some of their games (even if they are older games, instead of their newest stuff) on to the PC to see how it sells, gauge demand that way. I'm sure they want to save system movers like Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. for their own hardware, at least at this point in time, and that's fair enough. But maybe stuff like Fire Emblem or Advance Wars on PC would go down well (and it would be well received by the PC audience as well). Fire Emblem and Advance Wars do not sell hardware, but are fairly high profile (in terms of prestige) Nintendo series nonetheless, so Nintendo would have a good indication of what kind of reception their stuff would have on the PC market if they went with those.
Another idea is to simply put older versions of their games on PC, and see how those go. Put SNES games on a PC Virtual Console. Put touched up versions of N64 games. Make them officially available and optimized for PC. See the response to that. I do think it will be a bit more muted than you would expect, simply because of how easy it is to emulate Nintendo's stuff on PC (and how widespread it is) for free, but still. Maybe Nintendo could either adjust projections downwards for that, or they could incentivize the purchase of the actual games themselves.
Well, I've been posed the question before, so I've thought about it some. If they put Fire Emblem on PC, I'd very, very likely get it. I don't know about really old titles, I feel like there needs to be something rather new, to best gauge response. I guess they could use old titles to test out an online store like you were suggesting, but I think something from the Wii U generation would still be needed. Heck, it might mean they sell more Wii Us.
