The Call

I know nearly everyone is as excited as I am about the release of Call of Duty. I can't imagine the gaming world without it. Before COD I was used to MOH allied assault which I thought was plain amazing. When I first put COD in my computer I never played MOHAA again lol. COD1 was also my first online game ever! I have some fond memories of playing it. What a great game. However the ones on the last gen consoles were so aweful. Big Red One.... UGH. I'm glad infinity ward came back with COD2 and made that game a fantastic launch title for the 360. COD3 was alright but not that great. Judging by the COD4 Beta I am going to love this game.

So what have i been up to recently?

I did end up going out on Halloween. Not trick-or-treating but just walking around with my friends doing random stuff. It was fun expecially since one of my friends decided to dress up as a giant bannana and he was raped multiple times throughout the night. lol. On thursday I went out around 8 and was going to sleep over my friends house but I ended up not (No school on friday). On Friday I went to my other friend's house and we made a campfire in the backyard and it was cool. Yesterday I walked up to longate (shopping center near my house)and I met two people and after while went back to her house. Where we met 2 more people. I was the only guy which, yeah, that can be really bad sometimes but I really like the people that were there. Plus I hang out with them all the time so it was nothing out of the ordinary. Around 11 we went outside. I walked home and then went to bed.

Thats all for now.

Halo 3 and the PS3? (Updated)

Last blog post I outlined my plans on how to get Halo 3. Well they have changed quite a bit. I asked my Mom if she could go pick it up and I got the answer that she was working all day. My dad was too. This leaved me in an awkward position because I would get home then be forced to wait while getting chats/invites/messages from my friends who already have it and then go and get when one of them gets home. Or I could go to midnight launch and get home like at 3, get very little sleep then go to school. Not Happenening either.

So what did I do you ask? I went to Gamestop.com relized they had a deal that if I did 1 day shipping I was guranteed to get it on the 25th as they already have it and can send it on the 24th. So I ordered a limited edition and 1 day shipping which cost me about 83 bucks. Oh well. But now I will have it deff on the 25th. I still am planning on taking of wednesday.

A few blogs posts ago I listed my gaming wish list. It has changed some so this is my new one.

  • Halo 3
  • Orange Box
  • Assassins Creed
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Mass Effect

Yes I am buying these 5 games soon while renting many more via Gamefly.

TGS has been going on for a fewdays and for the first time since annoucement I am actually considering buying a PS3. However I refuse to buy one until a price drop, and until 2008 as there is nothing worth getting on the PS3 right now IMO. Sure there are some good games but cmon, no system sellers. What changed my mind? Well there are three games I am looking at. Killzone 2, FF13, and MGS. I will most likely as well pick up like RFOM or similiar titles. However this will not be for a while. I am more then happy with my 360.

*GASP* ONLY LIKE 2 minutes till Halo 3 reviews. I swear Jeff be fair, If you give Halo 3 less then a 9 I won't be able to accept it due to the fact that you gave THPS3 a full blown 10. WTF!!!!!

Update

I didn't mention this but I have been replaying Halo 1 and 2. I beat Halo 1 on friday and just beat Halo 2 like an hour ago. So i'm all ready for Halo 3 which got wonderful reviews from everwhere. I'm so hyped for this game. Man I really wish GS didn't dumb down the rating system because I want to see how the stacks up to Halo 1. I heard it got a 9.7 and then was rounded down. I think this because Gamespot Korea did give this game a 9.7 which would be better than Halo 1!

My Impressions of the Call of Duty 4 Beta and Halo 3 plans

Wow. I am so glad Gamespot gave me this beta.

I have i think maybe 5-6 hours logged into it. I capped my level around 3 hours. I have over 1000 kills and around 600 deaths. My kill/death ration is 1.88.

This game is fun. I don't know what else to say. It is the best multiplayer since Gears. No joke. Call of Dutyhas always been an intense series, or at least the ones made by Infinity Ward and now they take the series's base and put into a modern setting and you get mayhem. Some of my best moments are getting 40 kills and 5 deaths. And a huge 17 kill killing streak that only ended because the game ended.

Graphics- great visuals. However the thing I love most about it, is it runs SO smoothly. Absolutely no framerate problems or hitches. I heard it runs at a constant 60 fps and that does not surprise me. The game feels like silk.

Sound- AMAZING. Gunshots and explosions are so loud and constant. Even when your not in the fight you hear other people fighting constantly.

Gameplay- This games fighting is so intense and fast paced when I first signed on I could not keep up with it. NEVER stop moving or you will DIE. Also this game has some of the best snap shooting ever. They had this is CoD 1 and 2 and nows its back. Throw in ranks, customizable weapon/gear, and perks and you have a hella of a good MP experience.

I'm hyping this game a definite AAA. I'm looking for a 9.5.

In other news:

Wow, is Halo 3 really this close. 9 days. Its does not feel like it. I don't know whatI am going to do when it comes out. I hate that they release games on tuesdays. Why can't they release it this Friday, or even next Friday. At least then I would not have to somehow get through school to play it. I am probably going to school on the 25th. I am going to ask my mom to pick it up for me while I'm at school so I have it when i walk inside my house. Then I might take off the 26th. I'm not going to fake sick, because it would so obvious i'm lying. I'm just gonna tell my mom straight up lol. She usually lets me take a day off every quarter if my grades are decent and this is the perfect time to use it. Still that whole week is going to be so painful. If my plan works I will play Halo 3 from the afternoon on the 25th all night. Then spend my day on the 26th playing Halo 3 as well.

COD 4 MP BETA!!!!! (caps)

YESSSSSS

I signed online, and one of my friends was playing and I got mad that it seemed i was the only one who didn't have it. I signed into my email and there waiting for 2 DAYS was a invite

DOWNLOADING RIGHT NOW YEAHHHHH!

Medal of Honor and Stanglehold

Well yesterday I went to get the mail and to my delight MOH and Stranglehold was in my Mailbox. I have already beaten MOH Airborne on Normal and played with the MP. I have beaten one level and most of the Second in Stranglehold. Impressions:

MOH- Good game. As far as anybody saying this rivals COD is full of it. It doesn't touch either COD 1, 2, or 3. The reason for this is it can't capture the intensity of the COD games. The Sound effects in this game are sub par. The weapons sounds and fell relatively weak which makes the shooting unsatsfying. IN sp mode your AI is pretty unhelpful and you will feel like a one man army for much of the game. The game was difficult even on Normal, I consantly had to keep retrying. However it was a decent playthrough, I would give the SP a 6.5 out of 10. MP however i better. From what I played is seems really fun. You still do the airdrops in MP and it really seems to live up to the hype. When you fall out of the plane you see the whole battlefield and can choose where to land like ontop of an enemy or behind them. Its really fun, shining point of the game. MP 8 out of 10. All in all I will probably rate it 7-8 out of 10 when I write my review.

Stranglehold- Nothing that I didn't expect. A very shallow action game. That by no means doesn't mean its not fun but killing i all you really get out of it. Also sometimes it is confusing on where to go. Other then than it seems fun if shallow but i will enjoy it. So far I'm guessing a 6.5-7.5.

One Week of School Completed, Gaming, Friend's Xbox broke, and Last Night.

Well actually I went to school from Monday-thursday, getting friday off and tommrow off as well. Sohow did my first week go? Well I didn't enjoy it I'll tell you that much. It wasn't so bad though but damn it felt like it took forever. My schedule:

1: Computer Science (I might drop this, I didn't even want to take it and it looks hard)

2: Software Apps (easy.....)

3: German 2 (The guy only talks German!!!! Well not always but more then I thought he would at first)

4A: US Goverment Honors (easy I'm sure)

4B: Math (Meh....)

5: Biology (My teacher looks like a crackhead)

6: English (My teacher is crazy)

So far I already had to write an essay, which is annoying. I got on XBL on Monday but was doing the HW the following days and got on again on Thursday night after I completed my HW. So how has my gaming been going. Fine. Since my last update I have really sunk into Two Worlds and my Opinion stays the same. It grows on you. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. One of the first things was overthrow the rulling faction controlling the Northern province, Thalmont. You had a choice to help the Skeldan Clan (The ones in power who really only care about themselves but pay well) or the Karga Clan (rebel faction that has the support of the people but doesn't pay so well) I decided to help Karga out and I ended up Assassinating the Skeldan Clan's Leader and second in command. I also found theNecromancer hidden city and did some quests for them and actually killed off an entire town because of that. I have explored every region of the world but still have not seen even close to everything.

I also played some Gears with my friends. Which brings me to my next point. One of my best friends, who I knowin real life, had his Xbox break. We used to go to school together years ago but then he moved. He then lived close but went to a different school. Then one night when we were hanging out he lost his retainer which basically set his mom on fire and somehow this ended up with him in Masschusetts (I live in Maryland) living with his Dad. So the Xbox has been one of our only ways of Communication. He is going to miss Halo 3 which sucks big time.

So last night I called up one of my friends and went to go hang out with them around 7. We decided go to Longgate(a shopping center) but the Bus we were going to take nevercame. Around 8:30 we started walking there instead and stopped off at my friends house and hung out there for a while. An hour later we started walking again and had to go through the woods when it was pitch black which was quite the adventure. Evidently there was river in those woods as well.....lol. We finally made it there, hung out for a while then Headed back to my place. We got to my house pretty much exactly at 11 and everybody got picked up from there. Alot of walking that day.

Well thats all for now.

Two Worlds: It grows on you

Two Worlds has possibly the worst first impressions I have ever had the displeasure of trying. The game starts out with you sister wounded (though never explained why but maybe it will be later) and you searching a place to hide. When you return to your sister shes gone. Months later you are a mercenary trying to find any info your sister and the game starts off in a cave your supposed to clear out of the town. In this small area you would think the game would run smoothly, wrong. The framerate needs some SERIOUS work. It isnot unplayable like some would like you to think but it is enough to ruin the immersion of the game. The melee combat is hack and slash, and is actually sort of fun when you begin BUT THE BLOOD. OH GOD THE BLOOD. Why is the blood so poorly animated. Looks like one those old arcade 2-d fighting games.

The dialogue is bad, period. It not the actual voice actors for me, who are not fantasic but not so bad. For me its the script. What they actually say. Tis, Mayhap, Prithee, ect should not be used.....ever again. The words are overused like crazy but then the rest of the dialogue is in present lingo. wtf?!?!? The graphics for the most part are good, except character design. The World is lush and varied and draw distance is astounding. The problem is the framerate really needs to be fixed. It seemingly gets better after the initial beginning but still only fanboys would say "UZ DA LIAR TEH GAMEZ RUN TEH PERFECT." Another thing that bugs me is the menu. Why is it so annoying to use? The Map is nearly useless as you can hardly see anything. The quest log is surprisingly horridly executed and is so hard to understand exactly where you need to go for what quest.

Now all the things I have just stated have to do with presentation. Does it have any substance? Surprisingly yes. After you get past the stability and really try to dive into the world the game is actually pretty fun. The map is huge. Lots of towns where townsfolk will set up markets in the street. You want to level up so you can fight some dragons and monsters. To be honest, while cliched, I'm into the story. Alot of equipment. 5 schools of magic with the mysterious Necromancy. The main problem with this game is you can see it. You can see how great of a game COULD of been if only it was more polished. It makes you angry that the developers couldn't see how amazing this game could be with a touch of polish. If this game was as polished as Oblivion it would be better. It really would be. Unfortunely no matter how many updates they come out with I can't see the game getting polished to that magnitude. The game does not reflect the years they put into this.

Bioshock bought, Two Worlds next. (no spoilers)

Yesterday i went down to my local gamestop to get my very own purchase of Bioshock. Unfortunely I was told they only had LE in. Damn. I had to fork in another 10 bucks. Oh well. I went home and played it from 7-11. Then I got on gears to play with some of my friends. I have played it extensively today so far as well. My thoughts? Great game. Immersive, Atmospheric and Action packed. Best game of the summer with Darkness close behind and then a huge gap with everything else. So far I will probably give it a 8.7-9.2 when I review it, as I have not completed it yet. It is fun but its not without its share of problems. My biggest problem with it is I wish they implemented regenerating health. I know i've been spoiled this gen but health packs? They are kinda of scarce. I guess the reviving chambers make up for that though.

Two Worlds.......

What do I feel? Anger. For those of you who don't know Two Worlds was released in Germany in May for PC. Since then they have released patch after patch to fix bugs, and enhance gameplay/graphics. The 360 version was supposed to come out August 1st. Making me happy that I had plenty of time before school started up again. It got pushed back to the 14th. Dissapointed but could bear. Pushed back to the 21st. Angry, I only had a week to play. 24th....... Pissed. I now have a weekend to play.

However I will bear it as Two Worlds seems to be a decent wide-world rpg. From what i gather it has some better elements of Oblivion. It mixes Oblivion, Fable, and Diablo but it not polished as any of them. I can deal with that though. I have a feeling its going to be one of those games with SO much potetial but then when you play it you see some ideas were poorly implemented. Which is a shame. I look forward to the 100+ SP experience and the 40+ MP exclusive campaign though.

Nearing the end of Summer

I have not updated since April. Why? Idon't know just didn't feel like it. The real reason I am writing this is I just got of one of the most intense Gears of War Matches I was ever part of. I play GEOW often and while its fun it does get a lil repetitive or frusterating. The last match I was just in however was different. We were playing Annex on the map with the trioka (forget what its called). It was a full game and I don't know what it was that made it so intense but it was. By the end of the game our whole team was shouting, jumping up an down, and just going crazy. It was the closest thing to a cardiac workout I have ever done in a game. There were bodies blowing up everywhere, Our whole team would rush in kill, take spot then vice versa. At the end of the game the both of the teams were like "wow that was intense" and instead of the usual trash talking we were all courteos to one of another because we both just gave each other a hell of a fight. I think it was most likely the most fun i ever had in a single GEOW game.

In other news I am waiting very impatiently for Two Worlds and Bioshock, which I will be buying on the same day. I have about $220 which I have to use carefully since we have the big fall blowout thing coming up. I am planning on buying

  • Two Worlds
  • Bioshock
  • Halo3
  • Orange Box
  • Naruto
  • Assassins Creed
  • Call of Duty 4

I am planning on renting from game fly:

  • Stranglehold
  • MOH Airborne
  • Eternal Sonata
  • America's Army: True Soldiers
  • Army of Two

I have quite the list of game I am going to be playing. Which brings me to my next point. Instead of a fall blowout we should have a summer one. Every year game devlopers waste summer when kids are bored. Than right when September as well as school hits developers release their game. Instead of the heavy releases every in September, October, and November they should release in June, July and August.

School for me starts on August 27th, giving me a mere week to play Bioshock and Two Worlds. I hate high school with a PASSION.
