To the best of my recollections, I have never ever downloaded any illegal software, music, movie, etc. from the internet nor have I ever encouraged anyone to do so. However, an incident in the country of Singapore has left me sympathising with some of the fans that sadly have been sued for downloading anime. Please see this link here here for the details. When I first read the news report, it left me sick in the stomach. Recently, I have been told that parents in that country are now even stopping their children from watching anime anymore, and worse, disallowing their children from using the internet altogether, for fear of being sued. Furthermore, from the report, it seems probable that we are looking at a scam utilising copyright laws as a tool.
